Well, since no one else is saying anything... have you looked at the one in the wiki -> builds for new players?

http://ddowiki.com/page/Solid_Arcane_Archer - elf, pure ranger, dex-based and gets stat-to-damage from Elven Grace. Although, I might probably replace at least one of the Toughness feats with something... maybe dragonmark... it looks like this has been at least somewhat updated for the current state of the game, anyway.
No longer completely f2p as of November 2014. Father of a few more DDO players.

    Hi,

There are a few different builds around.

My advice is that you choose something which will allow you to do both melee and ranged combat.

    Have fun.

For me, the tricky part about putting together a pure rgr is figuring out which feats to take:
    • Ranged DPS: Point Blank Shot, Precision, Imp Crit:Ranged, Combat Archery (req's base DEX 21)
    • Melee DPS: Power Atk, Imp Crit:<melee type>, Cleave/GC/Overwhelming Crit (req's base STR 23)
    • Survivability feats: this is my "grabbag" for metamagics like Quik & Emp Heal; extra HPs (Toughness & eToughness); Dodge bonuses; etc.

Since a pure rgr only gets 10 feats (11 if human), there's not enough room for everything. So the first thing you have to do is figure out your priorities and start paring down the list.

E.g., here's a classic elf rgr that focused on ranged DPS first, melee DPS second:
    Code:

Note with the anniversary event going on, I'm presuming everyone can manage to score a couple of +3 tomes; I also presume you get lucky and pull a +3->+4 DEX tome by lvl 24, but if not, just put your lvl 24 stat pt into DEX instead to pick up Combat Archery. Blinding Speed is basically a convenience / placeholder feat; you might want to swap it for Emp Heal.

Does anyone think that the flaming/shock/acid/cold arrows chain is worthwhile after the bug fixes in arcane archer now? 9 enhancement points for d6 elemental damage and an on-crit ability?
Honestly I think the arcane archer enhancement line was only balanced with the bugs in it. The doubleshot on the capstone also doesn't play nice with multishot.

I think Vulnerable is worth it; stack up a bunch during Manyshot and use Slaying Arrow on your final volley. I agree that the capstone and/or Doubleshot mechanics need to be revised to be more useful to archers. My suggestion would be to grant an extra feat similar to 10K Stars, but based on DEX instead of WIS; put it on the same CD as 10K if it seems too OP to have both on an elf/HE monkcher.
