Default Need a build...Old vet returning after 3 years of inactivity

Hey guys, so I took a 3 year hiatus from DDO, and now absolutely nothing makes sense, so I would like to start over.

I am looking for a self-sufficient staff build for a rogue or monk or both. I currently have 32 point builds unlocked, Warforged, and monk. I will probably purchase epic levels in the near future as well. I was wondering if there was a typical build or template that people use when building a staff fighter like this. Thanks!

You can make that build compatible with 32 point build but Bladeforge is what gives self reconstruct to the build. Some other options you have are doing the same build with a fleshy race like human with good heal amplification that uses wands and heal scrolls from umd and then rejuvenation coccon from epic destinies, but you need some umd gear to get no fail heal scrolls asap in heroic content, also it is a build that use displascement clickies from gs gear.

But since you already have Warforged, you can make a eldritch knight sorcerer or wizard with Paladin and monk/rogue splash, that can use repair and reconstruct spells for self healing and also can use displacement from spells without requiring much gear.

For example, a Warforged Wizard 13/Rogue 5/Paladin 2 can give you self repair and reconstruct, haste and buffs, you can take the eldritch knight and thief acrobat enhancements for dps, can take archmage enhancements for displacement sla, invis sla, and get paladin charisma modifier for extra saves with evasion and many skill points.

Can start with 16 str, 8 dex, 16 con, 14 Int, 6 wis, 14 cha, all lvl ups on str, Important feats: Power attack, cleave, great cleave, insightful reflexes, Improved critical Bludgeon, toughness (or two handed fighting), Wizard feats: extend spell, quicken spell, maximice spell (or mental toughness). Just need a +2 tome of str to get Overwhelming critical feat at lvl 21.

Leveling order could be Rogue, wizard x6, rogue, wizard x6, paladin x2, rogue x2, wizard, rogue. Important skills: Umd, repair, trap skills if going for it, spellcraft, balance, jump, bluff or diplo, etc.

With this build you can use your quaterstaff mostly for meele sustained damage but also will have some ranged damage potential from spells like eladar electric, niacs biting cold, chain missiles and aoe damage from Ice storm (can use solid fog clickies with that for some cc too) and firewall, that's why maximice spell could be useful too.

I agree with elcagador - Zeus would work with 32 points, but not without Bladeforged.

I also did something very similar to his suggested build, but switched Paladin for Monk.

For a 32-pointer, it's easy enough to lower INT.

Both are good options - Paladin gets extra STR in epic levels and has better saves across the board, Monk gets better crits and Shadow Fade. I've gotten the build to 24, damage is very good, survivability decent to good (Reconstruct spell can't be meta'd with Empower or Maximize and hits for less than I'd like, but the avoidance is great) and great utility. I also boosted Hamp rather than Ramp, which hurts self-sufficiency but helps in groups.

I'd advice against going too far up the EK tree though, it's primarily aimed toward sword and board. Double Strike and less arcane spell failure are very useful though as Warforged have innate +5% spell failure.

Epic lvls are free to everyone; Epic Destinies have to be unlocked, even by VIPs. I recommend buying one of the MotU packs from the Market, which also unlock EDs: the BE is good enough if you're VIP; whereas if you're Premium, the SE will also unlock druids, E-star challenges, and 4 of the older Eberron packs, so it's a better deal if you don't already have the rest of its content. I think they're also still doing the deal where if you buy one of the Shadowfell packs, you can get MotU at the same time for half-price.
