    Default Wardrich Priestknight....or something.

    I think I've got it figured out. I know that's a weird way to begin a post, so let me back up a bit. I started this thread more as a discussion than a build posting. For a forum dedicated to character builders, I thought it was weird that only one other person had a thought to offer, but whatever. The original post I used to start this thread is in post #4 in case anyone is interested to see how this started. I've been thinking about this idea of combining Warpriest and Eldrich Knight for the past week and I've settled on one of the two builds I'm going to post below. Although I still really like the fleshy warpriest/knight running around in vampire form.

    *These builds could be built by a beginner. Only need a +2 STR tome to qualify for Overwhelming Critical. No past lives are required. Of course, tomes and past lives always help, but they're not required to make this work.

    Build 1:
    Race: Warforged
    Class: 10 Fighter/8 Wizard/2 Cleric

    I like the versatility of this one. Weaker on the self healing aspect then Build 2, but melee options and number of spells are superior in this one. With all the fighter feats I grabbed the cleaves, THF line AND the shield buffs. Still had room for metas for my heals. SP pool kinda sucks compared to Build 2 though.

    This one looks like fun too. While far less versitile than Build 1, this is far more survivable. Full repair line plus the reconstruct SLA from the racial tree. The bonuses from Bladesworn Transformation, Tensor's Transformation, and Divine Might stack (Profane, Alchemical, Insight). Melee with all three going sounds like fun. Also, saves look better with decent CHA and divine grace on this build.

    Here's one i made myself https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...-eldritch-soul It's a bladeforged greatsword-user, and is a lot of fun to play - charge into the middle of a group of mobs & just start laying into stuff, subtlety is really NOT it's strong point Might help as a starting point, the same basic configuration could work well for 2wf, or a sword & board type by adjusting a few bits & pieces.
    I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

    First up is a 10 fighter/4 cleric/6 wizard split. Went high on STR for melee damage and overwhelming critical. Put some points into PM for vamp form.

    Here's another shot at it. This time I went PDK, 10 fighter/4 FvS/6 Sorc with high CHA. Missed overwhelming critical, but this one would have a buttload more SP. More heals, no overwhelming crit. Meh.

    I'm going to look at other class mixes...maybe ditch PDK and fighter levels and go Pally with the second one...Maybe ditch the melee class altogether like Fuzzy did. More caster levels for better buffs/heals....decisions decisions.

    * Ignore this post unless you're curious to see how this got started.

    So I've been kicking around an idea for a while and I'm coming to the community for help. The concept is for a melee character, combining the Eldrich Knight and Warpriest enhancement trees. Why you ask? For fun, mainly. I've been playing this game since launch and coming up with weird ideas and making them viable amuses me and keeps me interested.

    Here's what I have so far. I'm thinking a 10 ?/4 cleric/6 wizard split. The ? probably fighter for lots of feats. Barb was tempting but a raging monster doesn't make good use of his spellcasting ability. Pally is feat starved and I'm already going part cleric. I also considered a 10 ?/4 FvS/6 Sorcerer split. Maybe a PDK 10 Fighter/4 FvS/6 Sorcerer, centered around high CHA? Or maybe same concept, but the melee class is Pally instead? With high CHA, of course.

    Ah, the possibilities, too many to consider them all by myself. Lets break it down to what this build WILL have, in the end:

    Race: Undecided/Any
    Class: Enough divine levels to hit tier 4 of warpriest. Enough Arcane levels to hit level 5 of Eldrich Knight

    Character is a melee character who will buff/heal himself. I can't think of any useful offensive spells I could use with no save. Shocking grasp and maybe MM will be useful in lower levels...but by the mid teens I probably won't be casting offensive spells at all. Fighting style is undecided, but I'm leaning heavily towards sword and board/THF. EK gives bonuses to Shield ASF and shieldbashes between swings. Human Racial tree also has an enhancement for that, plus feats, plus shields that are made for bashing...I only consider this because ALL of my other characters use TWF or THF if they melee. I have no tanks. THF is probably the way to go. I just can't let go of the idea of combining human + EK + feats + shields with bash bonuses + Stalwart Defender Shield striking...I haven't done the math. But I wonder how high that % can get. Plus with the feats and Legendary Shield Mastery from Unyielding Sentinel, I could probably get a pretty high doublestrike on my main weapon too! I'm feeling some synergy here. Or maybe this whole line of thought is one big trap and I should just stick to THF. Hmmmm.

    Enhancements. I've messed with the character generator a bit, and every time I do enhancements, I keep dumping 40-42 points in EK, taking all of the tier 5's. Tensors is a no-brainer, Eldrich Shield looks nice if I keep the idea of going with a shield, Still Spell drops my ASF another 15%, Doublestrike is a no brainer and Eldrich Tempest looks like a powerful attack to add to my rotation. Which I see as:

    Eldrich Strike, Smite Foe, Cleave, Great Cleave, Eldrich Tempest when it's off cooldown (30 secs). Maybe trip or stunning blow if I can work up a decent DC for them. That should keep me busy.

    Defensively, both trees offer numerous benefits to HP, AC, PRR, light guard in the warpriest tree, etc. This post will be too long if I listed them all and I don't want to lose your attention. But due to it's defenses through ehnancements and buffs, plus the ability to heal itself, this character should be one tough nut to crack. Or kill. Whatever.

    Healing can be done multiple ways. If you put enough points into PM, you can score some more HP, more PRR and Vamp form for +2 STR. Use cleric inflict wounds spells + aura to heal. Or go WF, save the PM points for something else, and use repair spells. Or another race and use divine heals. That would probably be the weakest because there's only 4 levels there. Unless you go pally...

    Lets see, what else...back to enhancements, I've run through it a couple times and I ended up putting 40-42 points in the EK tree and 22-24 points in the warpriest tree, not leaving a whole lot left over for racial or other class trees. 62-66 points in those trees alone, leaving 14-18 points for anything else. Would love to sneak some kensai in there for some higher combat DCs and a little more DPS. And I DEFINITELY felt the 80 point pinch when I tried to roll up a PDK version of this build.

    It's almost 2:00 AM at I write this. I'm going to post my rough draft character build and probably more thoughts and clarifications tomorrow. Let me know what you guys think!

    If you want to get the biggest bang for your Wizard buck, I would look at 12 levels:
    - Wraith form (if you want to go the PM route)
    - Most useful buffs
    - Allows for both Lesser Death Aura and Death Aura (6 levels of Wizard will give you Lesser only)
    - More spell points
    - Unfortunately, a deeper Wizard splash will cut into your HP's

    In this build (12 Wizard/6 Fighter/2 Cleric), spend 21 AP's in Pale Master for Wraith form (excellent damage mitigation, plus undead properties), 31 AP's in Eldritch Knight for Tenser's, and the rest where you want (Warpriest, Divine Disciple, Racial, Archmage). I would probably go with 11 AP's in Archmage for a free Extended 6 SP Displacement and keep it running all the time This would leave you with 17 AP's to flesh-out the build. I would probably go Human. I would also go cold spec, drop an Ice Storm and wade into the fray!

    If you don't want to go undead, perhaps a 10 Fighter/6 Sorc/4 FVS will work. Spend 31 AP's in Eldritch Knight for Tenser's, 22 AP's in Warpriest for Ameliorating Strike (TWF works great with this...if you can fit the feats in), leaving you with 27 AP's to spend elsewhere.

    I like that and would consider it if I were still going the fleshie route. I still might if I get tired of robots. Have you put that through the character generator yet?

    I have a few builds with similar class splits. I'm a huge fan of 12 Wizard and Wraith form. For one on my Wizard lives I went 12 Wizard/6 Monk/2 Fighter, Stunner...loved it!

    If you a bent on Warforged, I would strongly advocate for 12 Wizard so that you can Reconstruct I would then go with Archmage for the 6 SP Displacement and leave it on all the time. It will only cost 11 AP's and you can Extend it for free. Also, as a prereq, you'll have a 4 SP Blur as well.
