Yes. According to the sites I could google up (including a couple from over a year ago on the DDO forums) this is due to a server side issue.

Is turbine expecting to fix this issue or am I still paying for vip to receive lousy game service and game issues that they wont resolve. kinda sad we pay for vip but yet we get treated like 3rd world scum. I bet they get better service from turbine than we do.
Rebooted my computer and then i was able to log in.

I've tried a fresh restart of both my laptop and my router and modem, but to avail. ddo still eludes me
I now realize why everyone I know and knew in DDO is leaving and finding more stable games to play instead of paying for vip and never being able to play the game due to downtime and server issues.
We are investigating. One thing to try that has helped in the past is to adjust your proxy settings in the DDO launcher. Press the "down arrow" in the upper right of the screen, then go to "Options". Click over to the "Proxy" tab and make sure "No Proxy" is selected.

I clicked on "TurbineInvoker.exe" and I was able to get past the initial loading screen and now I am on Kyber after 35 mins of trying.
o.k so ddo has finaly opened but to my surprise it is now making me update the game as if it was a fresh install. wonder why this is?

Options -> General Settings -> unchecking "Allow Akamai Netsession for initial file downloads" got passed it here.
Whatever check it tries fails when not run as administrator as running the launcher as administrator also gets passed it.
Okay, so I didn't notice the month but had this exact problem today (11/5/2014) so necro thread or not, it's relevant. As far as a solution, I clicked on the down arrow on the patch UI and made an adjustment, high graphic resolution (I think that was the one) and when I clicked okay so the changes would take effect, I was able to proceed to username/password. Although I will try the developers suggestion(above) if it continues.
Question: wasn't the OP's thread created after the last closure of CC?
Are people still experiencing this issue (as of 5:38 PM Eastern, -5 GMT)?
