Default Turbine, make a statement about purpose of Akamai software please

    Hi,

This is just to ask Turbine to get its act together and do something to quell people's fears about the mandatory installation of Akamai software. Not that I'm the first one to do this, but days have passed now and the forum is still in an uproar about it.

As usual, the 'hide your head in the sand until it dies down' approach is not working. You are losing subscriptions. To the people who find that amusing, and have been trolling others on the forums about it, the loss of customers is not a good thing. You may think those people are being hysterical, but their money is as good as yours, and at the very least they deserve an explanation.

So please, Turbine, tell us what the purpose of the Akamai software is. The statements made by forum moderators so far have been lacking in detail and contradictory. Why is it required to play the game, instead of something that can be uninstalled after each update? What alternatives can you recommend for people who do not want to this software on their machines?

The work certain people in the community have done to explain and offer solutions has once again been far better than what Turbine has offered itself. I'm sure I'm not the only person who thinks this game is continuing to survive despite the efforts of the people who are running it rather than because of them.

    Thanks.

Feel free to read one of the numerous statements already made that answer your questions. Since there is no need to create yet another thread on this topic, it is now closed.
