Gimme some build ideas?

Hello there, citizens of the realm... I mean ddo players. Alright, I need some build ideas. I play slow, and I have never built a fighter before. My toon Maidae has 2 monk PL's and is currently 2 rogue/ 18 barb, sitting capped at 28 with all ED's xp capped as well. I am going to ETR + TR some time soon, and I would like to do a fighter life next. I am looking for self sufficient dps, that can hold her own in ee raids. This is pretty much what I have right now, but barbarian was meant to be only a past life, and her dps is much lower than I'd like.

I need a build that is easy to level, should be able to solo a bit, even though my main focus is not to solo, and should be able to handle some ee content once I get back to epic levels. I do look at what others play, I am just not sure what would be fun and a good fit for me. Should I make a fighter/ monk, a fighter/ barb... or an aa fighter? What do you recommend? Also, for race I'd prefer not human. I currently have 3 humans and 2 elves, and I just don't like the look of the humans. I know, what about looks.. but if you play in 3rd person view, you are constantly looking at your toon, so you want something nice to look at.

P.P.S It normally takes me ~10 weeks to level a 3rd life toon 1-20, because I play multiple toons every week.

But where's the fun in that?

You could go for a staff build, making something like a 12 Fighter 8 Rogue, but then you're just a rogue with a giant toothpick with a lot of strength from fighter (not a bad thing, I might add)

There's also a build that I was contemplating, which is a 12 fighter 5 Rogue 3 Barbarian staff build, but as it's just a theory crafted setup it wouldn't exactly go for something like what you're wanting.

A good question to ask is, what weapon are you wanting to use? I'm going to assume something like Cleaver, as that is the seeming weapon of choice for most builds as of yet.

But in reality Cetus' build is probably your best bet. Plus grabbing a few fighter lives is nice for when you inevitably want something focusing on tactical dc's.

Weapon of choice... I'm not sure. I have a bunch of wraps from monk lives, I have pinion and sireth, I'm missing the seal to make eSOS. This life I've been falchion focused using the falchion from CitW.

I was pitched the 8 fighter/ 6 monk/ 6 ranger handwraps/manyshot build. That could be something.

And for Cetus build... looks awesome and uber, but I don't want to make a copy. I also don't have a full set of +5 tomes.

8 fighter 6 ranger 6 monk

Can be built as a moncher, more or less.

Can instead be built as a twf that can switch to bow for manyshot

Can instead be built to use thf with cleaves that can switch to bow for manyshot

Can instead be built as a handwrap user with 100% off-hand, 10% from tempest and 10% from shintao, stunning fist etc, that can switch to bow for manyshot

OP asked for a self-sufficient non-human melee DPS toon which qualified for ftr PL. I'm struggling to think of anything which fits the build better than Cetus. Heck, even if you don't want to make another monk / kensei, BF are still the natural choice; Reconstruct SLA is just that useful.

Funny you should mention this, as I've got a HO rog/barb/ftr with a Raider's box I've been trying to decide what to do with. APs are the biggest stumbling block, since I wanted 32 APs in Acro for Staff Spec, 21 APs in Kensei for Power Surge, 16 APs in FB for Mad Munitions & Supreme Cleave, and 19 APs in HO for Brutality & extra Power Rage. Soon as I figure out how to make that work I'll let you know...

Cetus has 3 stat pre-reqs: STR 23 for Overwhelming Crit, DEX 17 for Manyshot, and WIS 13 for Zen Archery. Everything else is just bragging rights. I've already shown it can be done on a 32-pt WF with +2s, so I trust whatever you have access to on a 36-pt build will more than suffice.

Have a look at Santa's Little Slayer in my sig. I'm having a blast with it. It is built around dual Balizardes, so I would expect it to be considerably weaker if you're not using those.

Thank you for your replies (again). I must look at the build ideas and see what I can come up with.

One idea was to do the 8 fighter/ 6 monk/ 6 ranger as bf (would require a +1LR). Cetus build does look interesting, though. Hmm.

I will most likely do a few fighter lives, so this will not be this toon's final life, but I will keep her epic for at least a couple of months. I must check what tomes she's used (at least all +3's, some +4's, one +5).
