Smile High Lords to host raids for new players - starting Saturday 2/15

    Hi All!

In response to some forum posts where newer players expressed frustration with pug raids and finding decent raids to get into, The High Lords of Malkier will be hosting a series of open house raids starting this Saturday, February 15 at 7pm EST. These raids will be for players newer to the raiding scene or players that are looking to learn raids better. First timers welcome! Dbags not welcome. Please have sound and be willing and able to follow instructions.

The goal is to welcome newer players into the raiding scene, to teach people how raids work, to get players more comfortable with raids, and to enhance the Sarlona community.

Our first open house raid will be the most popular raid in the game- Shroud!

If you are new to The Shroud raid, you will need to be flagged, which requires completing the 5 Vale of Twilight quests: Let Sleeping Dust Lie, Rainbow in the Dark, Running with the Devils, Coalescence Chamber and Ritual Sacrifice. Then you will need to talk to Valairia in Meridia to complete her crafting device tutorial and then take the 5 stones from the end chests of the vale quests and use the crafting device in the basement of Meridia to convert them to a Shavarath Signet Stone. Finally, show the stone to Valairia and then talk to Aaseamah to pick up the raid.

If you would like to reserve a space in this Saturday's Shroud, you may contact me in game; I mostly play Gingerspyce these days.

Thank you Ellonea for suggesting that our guild host these events. We hope to see you in The Shroud soon!

    Love,
    Gingerspyce and The High Lords

This is a very generous offer!

So far, and please don't ever prove me wrong, The High Lords of Malkier are great players to PUG with. I have yet to meet one of their players that I did not like. They are solid.

With that said I've never run these raids or have limited exp.

    • A Vision of Destruction ~ never ran
    • Ascension Chamber ~ never ran
    • Hound of Xoriat ~ have only run once. Ususally get lost or left in the dust in Subt and drop party.
    • The Titan Awakes ~ ran once in a group and did not complete. Tried to solo a couple of times, but failed badly.
    • The Twilight Forge ~ never ran
    • Tower of Despair ~ never ran
    • Zawabi's Revenge ~ never ran

I own all the content, but usually when trying to do these raids people have been hostile and/or rude towards me for being a noob, so I don't even bother with these LFMs anymore. Item wise, only The Twilight Forge holds my interest regarding items. I know all the other raids not listed above really well however. It's hard to learn a raid when you are booted from group for being honest about being a noob.

On funny a side note, I gave up on the Abbot sometime before I started seeing regular LFMs from Gingerspyce or Sportyspice. I've been tempted to join one of these, but I didn't even bother to flag this life for it : ) )

With all that said, this is a very generous offer. I've enjoyed puugin' with peeps from The High Lords of Malkier. If you're new, this may be a good opportunity for you.

Unfortunately, raiding is dead in DDO currently. Hopefully there will be some guilds or individuals that would be willing to put together some raids for fun and training.
I'd be willing to lend a hand teaching most of the raids on your list. However, I have no interest in Abbot...

This is awesome. I've been around a while but there are still a couple raids where I honestly have no idea what to do in and just follow the group around till I get completion. If you are ever gonna teach what to do with the voice and signet in von 5, or teach the titan raid and preraid (beyond what to do with ladders) I would sign up for those lessons.

This is exactly why we want to host these events. Get flagged for all those raids because we will be hosting them in the future, with the exception of Twilight Forge/Titan Awakes

    Livmo who are your toons?

Thank you everyone for all the positive feedback!

Very nice. If I stumble upon some free time, and you have need, I can probably bring a healer (Nephron)...though it'd be my first time healing a raid (excluding tempest spine and reaver's fate).

You will most often find me on as Livmo in the evenings PST and/or on weekends.

It doesen't matter to me which raids. Adding just one of those raids to my repertoire would make me the happiest of campers. I like raids. I would like to do regular Hound of Xoriat if I could find the darn entrance

Also TY all for offering to help. I'm an avid reader and I'm up and down the forums and wiki all the time, but sometimes you just need to see things live for it to click. That is why I'm going to try to find time to livestream and/or make some vids. There are some quests I want to share via video on how I like to run them, or how I do them. I'm also interested in learning different ways to do the same thing. However, its hard to find that time, because my trigger finger gets itchy and I need play the game : ) )

I'm miffed, because Lumberg came in 2 hours late today. With the exception of Hell or high water I'm gonna be on Sat. at some point. I may already be flagged for some of these raids. I checked last night and I only need the right sigil frame for Abbott.

I would be interested in joining too,
but i am rather inexperienced in ddo as a whole (played after release some time and startet again recently)

What i could bring is my Bladeforged but i would have to go trought the flagging quests (well im doing them atm, so i think i could be done in time, but if someone likes to help/join me, let me know, starting now with the first of the quests)

So, if i am done in time and you dont mind a DDO newcomer (but experienced raider in other MMOs) let me know

Wish I'd seen this sooner - I'd have rolled up an iconic on Sarlona. Always great to see raids where newbs and gimps are welcome.
