OP i think you're making the classic "noob" vs. "newb" mistake.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Run your guild however you wish. On Ghallanda we have a guild like this. They've probably also broken the record for the fastest "organic" rise to 100 and have since added more and more well-known great players due to their 100 status.

No, lets not be fair, they recruit people who at cap dont know where is north or south, also summoning wizard hire in ee.
If hero inc has 5 good players in that guild thats too much.

I think this is pretty fair. I've run with members of most guilds here during prime US hours and found that some of the newer and all-inclusive guilds have some decent, and some horrible, players. As long as the mediocre players are fun and not overreaching, I don't mind it nearly as much as elite tier guild members who occasionally act like tool bags. Try teaching the newbs something!

The ones that are capable of learning don't need to be hand-fed information--they'll figure it out themselves. They may not have the chops to sail effortlessly to perfect victory but they'll at least TRY to contribute and very often succeed.

Helping people who are so far out of their depth that they haven't learned how to locate quests EVEN WITH A SHARE on an epic-level character is just asking for misery. Inexperienced folks with potential will someday be helping you complete raids and farm that loot/xp you wanted. Carry-on baggage remains a drain forever.

Nobody's perfect at telling the difference between the two, but a good way to put yourself in the baggage category is to *expect* that somebody else is going to show you around.

I agree with you to a degree. I still learn new tricks on my 23rd life, and try to share better ways of doing things if I see others doing something the hard way. There are also many players who come and go with new releases and may not know the newer content. Heck, I'm lost in Titan and Abbot due to when I joined the game.

Now, we also have Iconics with a head start at 15th. I'd rather ask newbs if they want help than run folks off being rude or ignoring them. I actually just had a recent Newb teach me a trick in some Estar challenges, which I hadn't done until recently as well. I thanked him and he reminded me of something I taught him during my TR grind when he was new.

All that said, if I see newbs focused on elite streaks they don't belong in yet, I offer to help them learn the quest (unless they are noobs and newbs). There are some EE runs I prolly don't belong in yet, and hope to get help on them too.

I'm trying to think objectively about the guild in question, and some are decent; they are not necessarily ALL pileons, but I do agree with the overall consensus that many need to be mentored by competent players. If you are mentored by folks that don't know what they are doing, and you don't venture ("you" being a relative term) into pugdom and get yer can ripped a few times, you don't know any better. Consider it a community effort with forced participation.

Aye, I agree with you there... Folks from guilds that are known to have good players; successfully running a lot of EE stuff, sponsoring raids, etc. Occasionally, as you said, some will show their fluency in toolanise - Much more annoying than those who don't know any better.
