I thanked him and he reminded me of something I taught him during my TR grind when he was new.
I pick up new tricks from people all the time, too (although many of them I don't really use that much). Most of my best in-game friends are people I helped get started when they were new.

I just don't comprehend what goes through people's heads when they do something like this:

    1. See a posting of Chains of Flame on elite, bb, no healer of any kind in group.
    2. Click join. Party leader accepts them, says "hi, we just stepped in"
    3. Long pause
    4. Wher R this quest?
    5. *someone shares it*
    6. wat pack
    7. "Sands"
    8. Quest is now 2/3 of the way done, they haven't communicated for 15+ minutes
    9. Wher R U guyz
    10. "In the quest"
    11. I dont see U on map
    12. "That's because we're in the quest."
    13. Can some1 com get me
    14. "Sorry, everyone else is in the quest already." *gives some directions on how to find the quest*
    15. 10-minute pause.
    16. Some1 com get me
    17. U guys are ********
    18. Y no 1 come get me

I run this quest on a regular basis. I almost always throw up an LFM because I know a lot of people HATE to run this quest--I'm HAPPY to let them pike it off me. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've run it without somebody like this joining. I try to boot them at step 4 but sometimes they skip straight to step 8 and I don't get a chance. It just boggles me how often this happens. You can't even HELP them because it apparently takes them 10 minutes to type the words "I'm lost" and upwards of 30 minutes to realize that they don't understand the directions you gave them. Usually 3 people join AFTER them but they can't seem to get organized enough even to follow THOSE people out to the quest--even if someone ASKS them if they want to be led out there they usually don't respond.

What. The. Heck. Yet WE are the ******** because we didn't somehow magically reach through the internet to impress enlightenment into this person's brain. How the heck are you supposed to DO that? I'm not magic.

Aye, I agree with you there... Folks from guilds that are known to have good players; successfully running a lot of EE stuff, sponsoring raids, etc. Occasionally, as you said, some will show their fluency in toolanise - Much more annoying than those who don't know any better.

Building a stronger squelch list are ya?

Nothing wrong with that, it just frustrates me because I always try to post the "elite bb BYOH IP" stuff and for some reason on certain quests it makes no difference.

Perhaps its all the "bb BYOH IP" - seemingly random letters that make no sense to uninformed new people .

Getting back to the point, I seriously think the problem with guilds full of people who do these silly things is a matter of having a leadership team that is strong with game skill, as well as mentoring and teaching folks. It's also a matter of having to make difficult decisions of when someone just doesn't want to be a productive members, and ask them to leave. If anyone wants to be taken seriously, they may want to strongly consider how they organize their guild, and and the types of players they want.

If ya don't want your people (you, again being used as a relative term) discriminated against because of their guild tag, then change the perception. Takes time, but if it really bothers you that they, or you are constantly getting flack, then it might be worth your time.

What Muleaxe said. If you have 100 players in your guild, and even 50% are good players, if half the time people group with your bad players then the guild tag is the only thing they will remember. It's hard enough remembering who people are unless they have a common thread in their name (mule-something or biggin-something), no one is going to remember each individual person. They just think that a guild is best avoided and start declining everyone from your guild as it's just easier.

Run your guild how you would like. If having clueless players is good for you and for them then it shouldn't matter what everyone else thinks. But what I can tell you is that eventually what will happen is your good players will get tired of being declined simply on the basis of the guild tag and gravitate toward more like minded players which in turn will make your guild even more noobish. There is absolutely nothing wrong with recruiting family style players, new players and the like. If you do though you need to embrace what you are doing and not worry about how you are viewed. Other people don't care about the mission statement of your guild, they just want to complete quests as easily and quickly as possible. If your guild isn't set up that way then don't be surprised with how you are seen.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

I often make a point of specifying something along the lines of "bring your gimpiest gimpy" on some of my runs (especially my daily weapon shipment), and oddly i always end up getting people who are suspiciously competent.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Well if they dont know what that means and they want to run ee, they are really lazy.
Problem with some big guilds, big in size, is that they have too many new people and only like 5-10 experienced players, those experienced players dont have that much time to teach all the new people, over 100 new people.

Just looked this up. Pretty sad that there are now two definitions. Generally, very confusing. Anyone know where the double definition started?

I'm pretty sure the original poster meant "newbs"

Aye, or they just join for the buffs and don't care about anything else. Either way, dysfunction is dysfunction

It would be nice if people were just slightly more helpful. My first Spinner run and the guy got ticked. He knew it was my first run and his explination of what to do was, "attack her" or "don't attack her". So I ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off, never doing anything helpful.
Now if I can, I try and learn quests before grouping for them. Easier to solo and learn a quest then to deal with someone with the apparent communication skills of a 5 year old and a superiority complex that is off the charts. Those people seem to forget they didn't learn quests without help.

Newbs/Noobs should never be on most EE quests, hence I avoid them even now.

This is true. I can think of a specific guild named after a British comedy troupe that used to be a bunch of clueless pileons, but more recently I've found, while not elite players, is certainly generally competent...

hey, you've got a great outlook on things, and a nice approach towards your guild members. One suggestion (if you haven't already) is to get a good core of officers that all have your same goal in mind - the more good hearted solid players you have as officers, the better your main body will eventually be. That way all guild members can enjoy much more of the content, rather than 50% on lower level content. Just a thought.

What I really hate is when someone dies in the quest and I go to get them, and they release.
