Thumbs up (DDO) Newb seeks friends and mentorship (guild)

    Hello,

I've played MMORPGs for coming up on 14 years now, but am new to DDO. I know nothing about the game, but am a subscriber and devouring forum threads as much as I can. I'll sign off here - thanks for reading! Here is a list of my toon names: Bofgan Whitefist (Dwarf Pally), Boogar Sohandsome (Half-Orc Fighter), Cogr Springdrive (Warforged Artificer), Tingming Zhe (Halfling Monk).

    ABRIDGED:

    me:
    + I like to solo.
    + I like to group.
+ 733t gear & end game are not my goal - the journey is.
+ I'm an ALTaholic & enjoy all classes.
    + I'm not a beggar (but I might pick your brain/experience often).
    + I'm a "mature" player (age & attitude).

    guild:
    + Prefer clean(er) chat.
    + Nice people.
    + Real Life first.
+ In a group situation, accepts newbs will screw up - sometimes often - they're patient & understanding.

    ==================================================
    UNABRIDGED:

    Here's my play style:
+ Tend to solo a lot, but that's not necessarily a preference.
+ I like to group for content - any content - leveling, helping a guildie/player with a quest, raids, etc.
+ In some of the games (EQ, WoW, SWTOR) I've gained 'end game' gear & done content, but this is not necessarily my goal; I like to enjoy the journey and I'm an ALTaholic.
+ I like to play all combinations of classes: Tank (main & off), DPS (ranged & melee - ranged is my favorite), Healing (single target burst is my favorite, but I like them all).
+ I enjoy (mildly) PvP, but am not that stellar and I don't make entire game sessions out of PvP; it's more of a random enjoyment.
+ I don't care if you're straight, gay, male, female, billy-goat, Christian, Buddhist, whatever. Are you nice? That's how I judge you.
+ I am a very good listener and follow directions well. Despite my age (think ancient dragon), I'm a good student.
+ I will NOT be begging, or asking for coinage, items, etc. Gifts are great, but running around begging never made sense to me - that's valuable time you could be playing the game!

    What I'm looking for:
+ I don't mind 'adult' language, but I do get sick of reading 'adult' chat over and over; no judgement, just not my thing.
+ I really like nice people.
+ I try to use my 2nd monitor & DDOWiki+Google to answer my questions, but a mentor would be awesome, too!
+ I like a guild that allows new players to learn and make mistakes. Sure, if I'm pulling a "Leroy Jenkins" in the same spot every time, I expect to be verbally accosted.
+ Guild must allow (at least) some ALTs - I'm an addict.
+ I have a family and a job; right or wrong, my 'real life' has to come first.

    Default Welcome!

    Well met!...and a recommendation.

You're exactly who I'd want in my guild if the guild was at a stage that had time to mentor and relax! Unfortunately for me, we (6 members, three active, one just returned and playing often, one playing a few times a month, and one gone for almost two years but hopefully coming back soon), have enjoyed that journey a few times and are now at a stage of zerging all our alts through TRs and prepping to enjoy a new/improved endgame...and juggling real life too.

I know we're not a good fit, but I can and will offer my assistance for a couple playing/mentoring sessions if you'd like. I'm not the best player but have a few years (and thousands of hours) of experience in which I've learned much about this game I love :-) Send me a PM if you want so we can set it up.

My recommendation I mentioned above: Maybe repost this with the spin of starting your own guild or a shared ownership guild. If you don't get many responses to this thread, it's most likely because many active guilds are at a similar stage as mine--the main issue being the new epic tr system that will become twice as hard (hard = long) once the level cap increases to level 30. So anyone entertaining epic tr's are of the mindset "if I'm ever going to go that route, better do it now".

Again, welcome to this game and enjoy the journey...I'll keep an eye on my mail (I look to it rarely so expect a delayed response).

I second Battle, the Old Timer's Guild has been in existence since before the game began, and is a great fit if you seek a drama free gaming experience!

In fact both of our guilds are members of the Ghallanda Fellowship Drama Free Alliance.

    Thanks for the replies.

@ Komode_Corebasher ~ I'll put you on my friends list and give you a holler if we're on @ the same time.

@ LeslieWest & Battlehawke ~ I will definitely check out (apply) Old Timers; sounds like my kind of group!

    Thanks again.
