Until a week ago, I was playing DDO with 5 years old pc on vista and graphics were nice and smooth.
Since I'm on new pc I have graphics lag that stop me from playing.
I explain : the graphics are not smooth, I can see picture after pictures, in saccade. Faster I move, faster the saccade appears and it makes me lag. There is no way to play with this.
I can already see the graphic lag at the character selection : when I turn the character the view (and the character) move in saccade.
It's very easy for me to compare as I can run the old pc at same time and compare, no lag on old one.
What I did
All drivers are up to date
The problem is the same with minimum graphics (when I should be able to run with max)
Firs DDO was not detecting Directx11, so I follow this advice which fix the Directx problem and the graphic lag so I was able to play until I reboot the pc !

So next day : graphic problem problems again (graphics not smooth, looks like picture after pictures are appearing, killing the eyes and making lag bad) but this time Directx11 is on…

So I restart pc and DDO and it's working fine, no lag. I'm happy as it was so easily fixed. So I step into quest (Acute Delirium) and graphics are fine until we attack the chest and it runs away and arrives in last room. Then games colors turns blury red (which is normal for the quest) and but my graphics come back into saccade again.
So I close DDO, reboot pc, but no changes, graphics lag keep on going. I try on other pc, it worse great…
I try to reset "userpreferences" as stated here but no changes.

I've restarted my pc many times, tried with directx10 or even directx9. Tried to set the same options that old pc. Tried to run with minimum graphic setting. But graphics are always in saccades… Nothing seems to work anymore.

I'm really a noob when it comes to pc settings, I tried to find a solution on forum, but didn't find anything like that.
There should be a way to fix it as the problem was not always on… but I can't seem to fix anymore

Is DDO installed on a spindle or an SSD?
Is this the high-resolution client?
Post your whole DxDiag, not just the video section. The problem is likely somewhere else.

Saccade... there is a term that is new to me, and even after reading the definitional, I'm having a hard time picturing what you are seeing.

However, a few things come to mind at first.

1. Go into your... (and bare with me. I'm trying to remember the location) Options -> Troubleshooting. There should be an option to put a cap on your FPS. I'd drop that down to 60 or so. This isn't an FPS where every frame matters to determine kills. So any frame generated that you personally can not see/detect is wasted energy aka heat generation.

2. Are you controlling the fan speed of your GPU personally or letting drivers do that work for you? If you are letting drivers, I'd advise to take control of it yourself and shove it up when you play. This will help keep the card cooler if it is a thermal issues. (and you don't have a card that was put together baddly. Such can and does happen.)

3. In your video rendering options, there is an option for "shadow stencils" Try turning that off to see how well it works for you.

first it was on SSD with windows 7 then I removed and put on second hard drive ==> same problem on both side
I first dwonload the high-resolution client, then erased it from pc thinking it might be the problem and install the other one... no changes

I don't know how to describe "saccade" in french it would the righ word I guess (lol) might be a "professionnal word for that... but I don't know it
I see pictures after pictures, like when you watch very old movies or when you put all the pictures on a block and flipped it to see them movie like a movie.
When I turn slowly on myself, the picture is not smooth like in a movie, but move by steps, very small steps, when I move fast, it looks like seizures... (or it's me getting into seizures from watching it lol)

Hey Lillou,

I noticed you are using HDMI output. I have two suggestions for you.

1. Set V-Sync to "Adaptable" under Nvidia Control Panel 3D Display options.

2. Turn off HDMI Audio under "Set up digital audio" in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Both of those are known to fix video stuttering or "saccade" issues on some systems.

That computer should just crush any games you throw at it, so this has to be some kind of configuration issue.
Once you get the config sorted out, you'll get the best experience with the highres client running off an SSD.

After you try the two things that sebastianosmith suggests above, if that doesn't solve the problem,
in DDO, go into Options->Audio, and try turning the sound off completely, or using a USB headset and
selecting that from the Audio panel (in all 3 places - the 1 at the top and the 2 at the bottom).

Another option might be a faulty power supply. If your graphics card is not getting enough power, it will throttle itself to cope with the power it does have.

Do you have a spare one to test with?

we found a problem in the graphic card which is always running 99% even when nothing is running on pc...
we searching how to fix the problem, hopefully when this problem will be fixed... DDO will be running fine.

Hey Lillou,

That is not good. It sounds very much like what a malware trojan called svchost.exe will do. This variant, if you have indeed picked it up from somewhere, appears to be using your GPU heavily - Probably mining Bitcoins.

This informative site will tell you how to identify and eliminate it. I really hope you don't have this. It's a royal pain to remove.

There is a known variant called Trojan.Bitcoin.Miner which exhibits the exact symptoms you have described. This thread on the Malwarebytes forum describes the process for identifying and removing it.

Seb I hope the problem is not that, because so far it seems to be fixed.

I took the pc back to the friend who build it, after 3 hours search he found "a program" that made the GPU running 99% and removed it (it's what he explained to me).
He couldn't remember the name and said it was something with the GPU name in it... Too bad he forgot to write down the full name but if he sees it he will recognize it

So far it seems fine. No more Graphic lag.
