    Default Bye

I was hoping to start playing again now that I have finished coaching my son's team.
Because of the Akamai thing, I have removed DDO from my computer.
Sadly, my subscription still has 3 months left.
Turbine, please rethink your decision so I might come back.

First, I am not a fanboy for Akamai. Older version I've run into at work are buggy. They've caused some problems with certain network cards. Most of the time a driver update to the card resolved the issue. But our network guys have gone over that software from top to bottom with Akamai themselves. Our company is paranoid with large amounts of security guidelines for IT and it passed our checks.

I'm not saying I like the idea of them using this software, but honestly, from how our WAN admin explained it, it's the future and we'll be seeing more of it and others like it in the mainstream...

And the reason we will be seeing more of it is that it benefits the corporation. it does not benefit the consumer, and it is completely unnecessary for the technical operation of the software I am paying to use. It is adware/spyware. Period. Unfortunately, corporate America has seen that customer satisfaction does not lead to greater profits. In fact, the opposite has shown to be true. The consumer has become so apathetic that we just line up and pay to be taken advantage of.

....by a lot of companies does not make something reputable. in fact, it is probably a pretty good indicator that it is NOT reputable. What being used by a lot of companies means is that it is good for their bottom lines. Not that it is safe, or good for the customer. A lot of food manufacturers use additives and chemicals that we would never think of eating if we had not turned into sheeple. That does not hake them good for us. It makes them good for the shareholders. There is a difference.

Thank you, that's very much appreciated. I will happily wait for the next update and resume my foray back into the world of DDO.

No offense intended, but I'll trust the judgment of our network team over what some people choose to believe with out actually knowing the facts.

You're a bit late to the show... This quote was made when we discovered Akamai on Lammania.

On the next update it was still there... and Turbine just became unresponsive to our queries.
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...

    Hello,
I uninstalled akamai and I'm using DDO-ML loader; it was easy, just unpack all files into a directory, delete the .ini file (else it wil not work) and edit .xml file with your account info (can be encrypted).

I even managed to patch the game with the same loader.

Don't loose the opportunity to play a game you like just because a principle.

    Bye!

Depends on the Topic... On this particular topic, all the answers are in the open... from Rowan first post in this thread to Cordovan's damage control and going through MajMal grumble and censored words.

Now there's other topics where we have regular answers... but they are not about anything on Lammania or Live.
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...

The Akamai NetSession Interface has an advanced settings interface. Most users can access the administrative tool in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Akamai\AdminTool.exe
