Default Need advice on 2 builds

I'm new to the game so need some help.

I want to build two builds - Race can be whatever:
    1. A specialist, Dex based, TWF, that does well in melee, range and can do any trap. So a broad generalist I guess.
    2. A melee, heavy armored, sword and board, tank, healer.

So for the first option, I think Ranger/Rogue will fit the bill.
For the second, I'm not sure - Pure Paladin? Fighter/Cleric?
Does a Bard fit in there anywhere?

I bet there are better options though...thats why I need you to set me on the right path now so I don't find I wasted time later.

Oh...and please tell me the level split you recommend. no need to list every feat...I just need the know the general idea and I'll research the rest.

    Thanks in advance.

    Do you have ? :

    - 32 point builds
    - any premium races (half elf, Warforged, half orc, drow)
    - any premium classes (Monk, arti, druid, fvs)

Do you have access to any tomes?

One is a VIP account with 32-point build. No FVS. No tomes.

The other will be on a F2P account, 28-point build.

So I'm not looking for the best of the best. Just a good general direction if it's better than standard Ranger/Rogue and Fighter/Cleric.

    Here's a Dex Based, 32point Human, 11 ranger/ 6 monk/ 3 rogue

This build is based on the idea that you will use shortswords.

    Stats
    13str, 16dex, 14con, 14int, 13wis, 8cha
Level Class Feat Bonus Feat Stat point Skills
    1 Rogue Power Attack Dragon Mark of Passage 4search, 4spot, 4jump, 4umd, 4locks, 4disable, 1tumble, 2heal, 2concentration
    2 Ranger 2umd, 2disable, 1search, 3heal
    3 Ranger Precision 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1spot 1search, 1heal,
    4 Ranger Dex 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1spot 1search, 1heal,
    5 Monk Dodge 2umd, 2disable, 3concentration
    6 Monk Zen Archery Deflect Arrows 2umd, 2disable, 3concentration
    7 Monk Light Path 2umd, 2disable, 2spot, 1concentration
    8 Ranger Dex 2umd, 2disable, 4search, 1heal
    9 Ranger Point Blank Shot 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1search, 2heal
    10 Monk 2umd, 2disable, 3concentration
    11 Monk 2umd, 2disable, 1concentration, 2spot
    12 Monk Master of Forms Mobility Dex 2umd, 2disable, 1concentration, 2spot
    13 Rogue 1umd, 1disable, 2search, 7open lock
    14 Ranger 2umd, 2disable, 2open lock, 3search
    15 Ranger Improved Critical Pierce 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1search, 2heal
    16 Ranger Dex 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1search, 2heal
    17 Ranger 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1search, 2heal
    18 Ranger Grand Master of Forms 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1search, 2heal
    19 Ranger 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1search, 2heal
    20 Ranger Dex 2umd, 2disable, 2openlock, 1search, 2heal

    A Few Notes:

It is important to pick up the tempest ranger second Core enhancement at level 4, this will allow you to use your Dex for to hit.

It is important to pick up the Ninja Spy second Core enhancement at level 7, this will allow you to use your Dex mod for Damage.

I Picked up the dragonmark of passage, as It will allow this build access to the dimension door spell, If you don't think you'll find the ability useful, This build would also has a lot of synergy with drow. (if Drow, 13str, 16dex, 12con, 16int, 13wis, 10cha)

You'll see on the forums that the majority of players use the earth monk stance, This build is focused more strictly around heroic gameplay for a newer player, and is meant to use Wind Stance.

At level 20, You can go either rogue or ranger, I personally would go ranger in order to pick up the fourth tempest core enhancements, Rogue would net you another d6 sneak attack though.

Just incase your wondering, the +sneak attack dice in Ninja Spy and Assasin Stack, so does the sneak attack dice granted in each Deepwood Sniper core ability.

I'm restricted to a cellphone, and that build took far longer to draft up than I expected. Hopefully someone else will help out with the healer tanky build. If not, I'll try come up with something, but it'll take a while.

Also, would you prefer a clericy build for strong healing intim tank, or something more like a bard/fighter for a buffing, intim, weakish healing tank.

You are awesome. Never did I expect such a thorough answer.

Could I trouble you for advice on another build?

Same Dex based character but Monk(Mystic)/Rogue(Acrobat)? Specialty in Quarterstaff and Disarming Traps? I know I'll lose ALL range though.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

Don't worry about the healer tank. I think Fighter Cleric is the way to go there. Bit Fighter/Bard sounds more interesting.

Now I'm interested in the Monk/Rogue combo.

Don't worry about the healer tank. I think Fighter Cleric is the way to go there. Maybe Fighter/Bard. Now I'm much more interested in the Monk/Rogue combo.
At a glance with acrobat, I'd probably be making something like a 13rogue/6monk/1fighter, they're viable now, but I prefer 2wf rogues.

for the healing toon, I was thinking along the lines of a 16cleric/2fighter/2paladin, or a 16bard/2fighter/2cleric.
fwiw: the difference between the 2tanks:
16cleric, much better saves, much better healing
16bard, better party buffs, should take less damage with access to displacement

I doubt i'll have time to draft anything else up tonight though.

If you don't have monk, rog 13 / rgr 6 / ftr 1 works pretty well too. This is also one of the few times an elf is desirable, as Elven Grace lets them use DEX to dmg for Aerenal weapons (rapiers, longswords, longbows).

Feats: at least one Improved Crit, GTWF, Point Blank Shot, Imp Prec Shot, Imp Sneak Atk, Combat Archery.
    2. A melee, heavy armored, sword and board, tank, healer.
I've been theory-crafting ideas for this; right now I'm leaning toward FvS or cleric 12 / ftr 6 / pal 2. FvS / cleric 12 gets you lvl 6 spells (Heal); ftr 6 gets you 4 extra feats, defensive stance, and Block&Cut (T5 SD enh); pal 2 is for Divine Grace. [Another option would be cleric 13 / ftr 6 / wiz 1: lose Div Grace, gain lvl 7 spells & an extra metamagic.]

Feats: Power Atk, Cleave, GC, Imp Crit, Shield Mastery, ISM, Imp Shield Bash, Quik, Emp Heal. On a human, that leaves 3 heroic & 3 epic feats left; you can put them towards boosting your melee DPS (THF chain & b.sword or d.axe prof), your survivability (e.g., Toughness, Dodge), or perhaps extra metamagics.

Enhancements: 33-36 APs into Stalwart D. (max defensive stance bonuses, Block & Cut); 22 APs into Warpriest for Div Might, Wall of Steel, Ameliorating Strike, other bonuses. Remaining APs go towards boosting your DPS (Kensei), heals / survivability, etc.

However, that being said, most of the time a dedicated S&B tank isn't necessary (and sometimes even counter-productive); a straight melee-focused battle cleric like the Radiant Titan gets the job done more often than not.

I don't have a DEX variant and I haven't updated it for the new Enhancements yet, but see my Three Ring Circus thread.

    20 Rogue Opportunist Dex 1search, 1umd, 1disable, 1spot, 1lock, 2concentration, last 4 are up to you

    Few notes:
Drow & 10k Stars are a bit of a flavor choice, but I feel like players should have some sort of ranged option, with the drow auto granted feat Shuriken Expertise & 10k Stars activated at the same time, your ranged damage will be better than you'd expect.
Human is also a good choice if you'd rather have the dimension door dragonmark, you'll be quite ap starved though, so there won't be a lot of AP to spend in racial trees.

I haven't worked out enhancements for you, they are easily changeable, but a couple of things:
Generally The Acrobat tree is always better than the henshin Tree, abilities look the same, but the cost, or cooldowns are better in the acrobat version.
I dislike the henshin tree, I'd personally spend at most 12ap in there (Core 1, staff training1,2,3, animal [tortoise or monkey] , contemplation)
Get Hasteboost from the kensai Tree. it costs 6ap to get in the acrobat tree. 4ap in the kensai tree, gets +1 to hit & hasteboost, (6ap in the kensa gets +1 extra actionboost.)

Just incase your wondering, the +sneak attack dice in Ninja Spy and assasin Stack.

I think I'm mis understanding something.

How are you taking the Master of Forms and Grand Master of Forms while leveling in Rogue?

The feats were changed when the enhancement pass went live.

Monks get them free at monk levels 6, 12 & 18. Anyone with 1 monk level can purchase them at character levels 6+, 12+ & 18+

Ahhh..that makes things more interesting. I'm still new. How can I tell if a feat is usable at a character level as opposed to a class level?
