    Default The Weirdest Thing

A while back when I was on my Paladin (like a week ago) the strangest thing happened.

I was on my level 17 S&B Human Paladin doing the quest "Missing" on elite in a party, I was also playing with a friend who was on a Half~Orc Barbarian with 63 STR wielding an axe.

When we finished the quest, I took a look at the kill counts (out of curiosity) and I couldn't believe my eyes.

My friend had 25 kills, while I had 39 kills. Although that when he said "Dude, it makes me sick to see you with the most kills." I agree with him on that...

in other words, you had 14 more last hit kills than him.

You are the one choosing not to play alts.

Casual player now investing way less than I used to into the game, playing 1-3 months at a time and still want nothing to do with Reaper. #improvepuggrouping#alldifficultiesmatter

With two melee characters, unless one of you aren't swinging your weapon, you are going to get widely disparate kill counts through multiple quests. The person who gets the "kill" is simply the one who hit the monster last. If you are facing a monster with 100 hit points, and your buddy hits him for 99, and you come along and hit him for 3 points of damage, you will get the kill.
All on Thelanis: Archenpaul Sixblade (Epic Triple Completionist), Archernicus Thornwood, Crestellin Moonwood, Gregorovic Redcloak, Jaklomeo Evermug, Jarladdin Nalfesne, Jonathraxius Kane, and Praetoreus Silvershield (Heroic Triple Completionist, Epic Triple Completionist.)

Leader of Guinness Knights (Level 165), which is (since June 2021) a two-man, father-son guild.

Also, were you perhaps running ahead of your friend a little bit? You can increase your kill count by getting to the mobs first. Another trick to get the last hit / kill is when a mob's hit points are really low, use divine sacrifice or a smite to finish them off. All of which has nothing to do with how much someone contributed in a quest.

Maybe you just built a paladin who can deal decent damage (inconceivable!)

We were both running into mobs, from top to bottom, smashing our way through the entire quest along with the rest of the party. I was S&B the entire run because I was able to get up to a STR of 40 with Divine Might active. Which I still don't understand why I still got more kills than him in the end due to his STR being 23 points higher than mine. We were also damaging the same mob per encounter.

If a monster has 10,001 HP and a Barb does 10,000 damage but the S&B does 1 damage after him, the S&B gets the kill. 64 total kills isn't enough to make viable statistics.

Yes it would be inconceivable, but most people (the ones that pay attention to these things) know that the class trees that Paladins were given are simply pathetic and the change to Divine Might was stupid beyond recognition (The change breaks PnP rules)

All I did was simply picked what was a little decent in those trees (anything that boost damage/defense without too much AP) before I smack two levels of Fighter into my guy once he hits level 18...I will miss the days of pureness.

Depending on group tactics and player setup it is very possible to have a higher kill count.

    Things of note:

Your feat choices - Do they favor Double Strike or even Shield bash - Both of which will get you more Swings giving you more opportunities to hit.

Your choice of weapon/shield - Choices such as Vorpal effects (Vorpal/Banish/Smite) could grant an upper hand against creatures with less than 1K HP

Your Barbarian partner's choices such as investment in Cleave line over THF early in the build. Barbarians generally do better against large groups especially when something else is holding the agro allowing them to do damage to multiple targets through either the THF splash damage or Cleaves.

The weapon choice of your partner is also important, if its damage potential is lower than yours it is possible to out damage.

Next is your partner using STUN. This alone can also increase your DPS potential an extra 50%. Which means if you are getting more swings than your partner you are benefiting more from their STUN effect.

You pretty much nailed my overall build as it uses a Double Strike/auto-Shield bash + khopesh combo.
