Default Can you install and run DDO from a USB memory stick ?. And so then any pc?

I'm going on a backpacker holiday and i'd still like to play ddo sometimes in internet cafe's. No way can i download and instal it every time.
I've checked the internet cafe pc specs where i'm going and they are not good (many don't have usb ports) except in major cities, . Seen some with i3 processor so that will be perfect.
I did read that it may be possible but i can't find the posts.

So what i want to know is
Am i correct, that i can't save ddo to a dvd disc?

Can you install DDO and run the game on a usb memory stick ? 16 or 32 gb ?

More importantly can i plug the usb stick into any computer and it will work.?

I hope this is possible, so all i have to work out what time will guild night be :-)
Just awestruck, whether it be a Dragon flying overhead Stormreach, that glowing character who just zoomed in'n'out of the Pub or that I can drink a Beholder under the table and best of all rescuing Damsels in distress.

    Character. Alivef was 1 x heroic completionist now I need Alchemist (+I have few more heroic pl's) 1 x epic completionist, 1 iconic Shadar Kai x 3. Gnome+Drow x3 racial pl's.

AFAIK DDO is still "portable" - it doesn't rely on registry entries or anything machine-specific. You should be able to install to a USB drive, or just copy your install to a USB drive and have it work in any machine you plug it into.

If you're running off of a USB2 port, keep in mind load times etc are not going to be great. And you're probably not going to find a USB3 port in a net cafe.

16GB USB3 stick should fit DDO fine, my install is 11GB.

Usb sticks for memory read write is horrible, so even if you install to a usb drive, it should run like garbage. However, nothing should stop you from selecting it as an install location. If it doesn't run in another machine, it will be because that machine is missing required dependencies on the local machine to run the game (like some visual studio libraries). I have it on a usb stick for installing, so I will give it a whirl.

You can install it to the stick; however when you go to irun it, it will attempt to install visual studio runtime libraries onto the local machine. So it will take time for that to complete. Like an hour.

Thankyou for replies and testing it for me.
It's worth me trying it then as a stick costs less than £20. It will all depend how long i stay in one place i suppose. And how customer friendly the cafe is :-). Got to hope they'll let me use it in the 1st place LOL.
I'll give it a go when i first arrive. If anyone is interested check back in 2 or 3 weeks and i'll post how it went.

Im sorry... i had to log in just to reply to this... this is utter rubbish.. ive been playing from a USB drive for the past 2 years now, with no issues at all.. The update process takes slightly longer, but its much faster than an HDD.. Though i use a 3.0 stick and drive.. but still.. it works wonders when you play on multiple pcs.. or are on the move a lot

THat being said. to the OP a 16g drive is plenty for just DDO, an 8 is too small unless your running standard files, Hi-Res is almost 8g of data once all updates are installed. so go with a 16 ^_^
