funny enough used to be that was the only way to get ioun stones was the low level quests. having them be the "Every 3rd run" reward from DD was a nice... recent... bonus.

Yeah, I remember those days when folks would trade most thier accounts wealth for a pale lavender stone, heh.

It was funny to me as it was just a group full of complete mis-information and cluelessness.

Also, in the party I had someone who was on thier 9th life tell me the ioun stone (pale lavender) was junk as it would dissapate after a couple dungeons. He had no idea you could unsuppress it to the state most folks walk around with...and this coming from a 9th time TR, from a larger guild. Man, I love pugging lowbies.

Got a Pale Lavender a few days ago in Elite Kobold Assault. edit: (Chest, not Reward, tho.)

Didn't even realize it until I went to sell my skittles, and one of them didn't disappear when I 'sold gems'.

Yep, ioun stones are classic material for screwing over newbies. Ioun stones do drop in lowbie quests and since a newb won't know about unsuppression the stone doesn't look very valuable, and likely to trade it for a song.

i wonder if teh drop on these has gone up recently or something. i've seen several reports recently. the two mentioned in this post, several in a channel i'm in, and i had blue search/spot one drop to me yesterday from a rare chest in Cerulean Hills O.o
