I can cope with this effect better than with hanging tapestries and plants, algae, you name it, which blocks user vision. But still, challenge should be created by chaarcter vision, not player vision. There is a a fine line but for example, I'd rather have more quests like Rainbow In The Dark than Shadowfell experiences.... I really like the idea and the immersion but after What Goes Up and an annoyingly confusing explorer area in Wheloon with random purple haze events it gets physical in Through A Mirror Darkly.

You know how to solve this issue? Just put an effect neutralizing feature on Shadowsight. That gave a trade-off for a complete different aspect: item slots. Or something like that silly dwarf in The Underdark, who gives you Goggles for free. Just something to prevent longterm effects.

Our investigation into this issue was helped thanks in no small part to the details reported in this thread! Here’s what happened: each player has a light applied to them when they are in the Shadowfell in this quest, in order to help them see in the darkness. Basically, there was an obscure, almost never-used setting on the light, which caused the light to replicate to other players. The more players in the area, the more lights, and the more the Shadowfell effect was blown out as a result. This explains why it’s worse for some people (i.e. those of you running in groups) than others. I’ve fixed it so now it should not be quite so bad. We’re also looking at some options for further improving the Shadowfell visuals in this dungeon.
Think Eye of the Titan effect. Make it low key. all type of obnoxious effects like that makes it dreadful to play.

As long as the color is purple I don't like it no matter how bright it is . Now I am not trying too be disrespectful I know you gurys work hard . but the shadowfell should be black whispy like when Frodo puts the ring on imo or like how NWNONLINE did it spot on IMO keep up the hard work guys I look forward too the dwarven ruins HELL YA been waiting since early 2007 for something like that.

My point is that occasional dark quests or some parts of widerness (like caves) is OK to be dark, but MOST part of the game should be bright.

The whole huge widerness like Underdark was a waste of time imo (tell me how often you go there?). It's good that only one quest there though (but, sadly, a lot of players haven't discovered Riz Malag portal when they join my lfm, which means they have to find the way in that dark place, which results in soloing/shortmaning that quest most of the time).
Btw, those goggles should show Slavers (then those goggles would be useful).
Ok, one dark wilderness, but why make the next one (Sschindylryn) also dark?

As for Wheloon, it's too dark in wilderness AND in quests (purple haze everywhere). While seeing purple haze for the first time impressed me, very soon it became the most annoying thing there. It is simply a bad design imo.

Anyway, we've already got dark widerness/quests.
I'd like new quests to be bright and outdoors.
