    Default Growing a dwarven beard.

So, now that I have completed school, I am growing an epic beard. Not gonna shave for an entire year, or maybe two. Along the styles of Elminster in Eveningstar. Or that dwarven quilted/plaited beard. Or perhaps the one that looks like Kerry Kings that humans wear. Maybe styling it into a bowl like Mr Incedibeard. Convenient bowl to eat food from.

Any DDO players out there have a beard?

    Wife says "No."

I have several friends with beards -I would say not everyone fills them in well. I hope you are a 'natural' for it. Post some pics - you know, before and after!

I went full-beard about two years ago. Being on blood-thinners made the occasional nicks while shaving kinda more of a pain then usual... so beard. I haven't let it get to Dwarf/Duck Dynsaty status yet - wife won't let me.

Have worn a beard, from full-on mountain man style to nicely trimmed, for more than 30 years now. Nowadays I let it go a few weeks, then trim out the wild parts and keep it looking simple.

My best advice is to let yours go for a month or so and see how it fills in. Then you'll have an idea how best to let it grow out, what parts to trim to keep it looking neat if you want to, and so forth.
Once upon a time, I was part of a team, and we saved some children. That was long ago and far away, and, yes, I am that old.

I've worn a full beard for about four years now.

I used to just have sideburns that were mostly grown to cover up the psoriasis I tend to get on my face during the winter.

I used to keep it trimmed quite short (#2 clippers) but I'm starting to grow it out now. I'm going for the Sons of Anarchy "Opie" look (but it's probably going to end up more like Bobby...)

I have 'evil twin' style beard.

Fortunately, my girlfriend says I can grow whatever the hell I want on my face, except moustache, so I'm not in risk of loosing it.

Thats great. Here is a quote for you to always remember.
    From Jeffs beard board.

    Default Dynasty Beard Here!

I have been growing a beard since February 2013.

One day I said to myself I am tired of shaving. I trim a little where it is expected to be trimmed.

    I looks Dynasty!

I try to grow in a full beard. I've been trying for 16 years now. The most it gets to though is a simi-scraggly looking "I am evil and refined" style beard on the chin, and uneven scruff on the sides. Heck, it doesn't even get to be a quarter of an inch in length no matter how long I go between shaving. So I've settled for trimming the outer parts to make it look non-scruffy and shave my throat since having scruff there just looks stupid. The sides I completely shave off so I don't look stupid. On the other hand, the best I can do for a mustache is a quarter inch in length, and just covering the upper lip.

At one point I wanted a long thin handlebar which could be twirled diabolically and a sinister looking beard. But I just can't grow one.

Tried at one point, but wife had other plans. When I woke up one morning the chin portion was cut diagonally. From that moment on, I realized it just wasn't going to happen.

My advice would be to not seek out style/fashion advice on the ddo forums, unless "awkward henpecked" is the newest rage
I'm better at DDO than you are

Goatee for years, grew a full beard for 2 years because the LARP character I was playing was 'old' and if you grey your beard you look old, if you grey your skin you look like a zombie. Didn't want to get beaten up going into the tavern... Since I sweat too much LARPing to even attempt a glue on beard, I grew one. Trimmed it except for a month before an event when I would let it go wild.

    Essentially though, this:

Male pattern baldness ramages aggressively through my family so I daren't grow a beard as it makes me look like my head is on upside down.

    Amuse your friends!

    Win the affection of Ladies!

Dye your bread straw yellow and tattoo a faint crack on your scalp. Whenever you are in the movie theatre, everyone behind you will think that an ostrich has laid an egg on the back of the seat in front! Oh lawks, the sidesplitting hilarity!

Endless amusement, all for the price of looking like a complete *&^% the rest of the time!

You know you want to do this. Do it. DO it.

I once announce that I would be growing a beard, to which my wife responded, "Go ahead".

After 2 months I had a patch of Red here, blond there, black here, white over there, grey blended in and all different lengths (I was in my late 20s too), it looked like a calico cat with scabies was sitting on my face.

Never tried again. Good luck with yours.

    Default Dont forget the smell!

A true dwarven beard must have the decidedly distinct smell of bad hygiene, rotting meat and stale ale.
