Default Elf tempest warpriest, scimitar build

Was asked to post this build, so here goes.

basic idea behind it was to get as many bonuses to twf as possible, by getting the elven scimitar line, the warpriest deity weapons (scimitars ofc) and the tempest twf +damage/attack bonuses.

build was 12 fvs / 6 ranger / 2 rogue, some nice healing bonuses from deepwood stalker, and exposing strike rocks.

end result - works quite well, able to heal / melee/ trap and occasionally drop manyshots on people. what it is not however, is a melee juggernaught. the damage is OK, but not nearly as high as a good THF build. it will struggle in "pure dps" encounters where previous builds would coast through. still good damage, just not off the charts.

still, a good, solid, jack-of-all-trades build.

Looks a lot like my 2nd Tempest Warpriest build; I took monk instead of rog and HE instead of elf, but the core concept is the same. You don't list epic levels; do you take any metamagics besides Quicken? Why so much base DEX when you didn't take any ranged feats?

there are similarities between the two, which is why I have expressed interest and tried to contribute to your build. it didn't develop along the same lines as mine though, yours seemed to include offensive spell casting, while this one was built with maxing scimitar damage in mind. at the time I saw no reason to publish this one, however since I've been asked for it, here it is.

this build wasn't planned as an end build, but rather for leveling me through a fvs life while trying something different, so my plans for it stopped at 20. I ended up playing it up to 24, which is why I felt I am able to offer insight as to how it handles in epics.

    eventually I took empower heal @ 21, and overwhelming crit @ 24.
even without selecting ranged feats the 6 ranger levels offer plenty, and manyshot gets its fair share of play time. I'd be lying if I said that was the reason for the high dex though, the high dex was mainly because I prefer having +1 reflex while leveling to say having +1 attack/damage, or +2 const (<20 hp in heroics). having said that, it's also useful for the bow using aspect.

like I've said, not the finest build I've played, but certainly a good and solid platform.

I can't really see the ap breakdown in that format very well. If you changed the 2 rogue to kensei could you fit some more pluses in?

I have not taken points in any rogue tree, and to be honest APs are very tight as is (I'm about 3 shy of where I would want to be), so investing in kensai, or any other tree for that matter, would mean losing either exposing strike from deepwood, scimitars as weapon implements from AoV, skill from elf (+3% doublestrike, +3% doubleshot, +3% dodge, and bypass 3% dodge), or the tier 5s from warpriest. neither of which is an acceptable for the smaller gain from kensai.
your only alternative is to take out points from the tempest tree and replace them with kensai tree, which would mean losing 10% off-hand strikes and ending up with the same attack/damage benefit. so that wouldn't help either.

if you were to somehow find free APs, you can always get more pluses from the tempest tree without going fighter. I believe I only got 2 of the possible 4 there, though I was able to max the bonuses from the other trees.

that's as far as APs go.

as for the class split, by exchanging rogue for fighter you would lose evasion and trapping ability, and gain 2 feats (which I'm guessing would be ranged feats). In my opinion such a change in class split would be a huge loss to survivability and utility, and not worth the feats it offers.
