Default TR Paladin to TWF Paladin

Im planning to TR my Human 15 Pal / 3 Rog / 2 Fighter into a Human 12 Pal / 6 Rng / 2 Rog TWF Paladin. What would be a good place to take the classes? Thats my major problem with thinking of my own builds. Planning to focus on Longswords for Oathblade or Tinah. Not gonna bother with trapping cause i dont think it will be possible anyway. Ive got 34 Points to build with since its TR and a +2 Str/Dex tome applied already.

It seems a shame that once you have 12 levels of Paladin, that you don't take 2 more to pick up zeal for 10% doublestrike. One more level after that gets you cure serious wounds or deathward. I think that's why it's tricky to make a Paladin / Ranger TWF combo. Ideally a Paladin will have at least 15 Paladin levels.

Traps are absolutely doable. Human Rangers get six skill points per level. Search (1 pt), Concentration (1 pt), Disable (2 pts). The two left over can be put into Spot if you don't know trap locations, or UMD for buffs/Heal scrolls. Most locks in heroic can be opened with four base skill points and level-appropriate gear. Search/Disable don't have to be always maxed; there will be some leeway if you gear/buff properly.

However, I would advise getting a +2 INT tome to shore up the skill points on your Paladin levels, or putting build points into INT. If you start with STR 16, DEX 15 (to qualify for GTWF with +2 tome), CON 14/16, you will have 8/6 build points left over for CHA/INT. WIS is a dump stat for Ranger/Paladin: use an item or Owl's Wisdom pot to enable casting.

As for levelling order, Rogue first to maximise skill points. You probably want to have 6 Ranger at about level 12 so you can grab GTWF and go TWF full-time (prior to that, THF cleaving is better). Your second Rogue level should be taken some time after the +2 INT tome kicks in at level 7, to shore up skill points from your Paladin levels. Paladin levels should be taken earlyish as their KotC/smite damage bonuses versus evil/undead are helpful in the lower levels.

    Default paladin

Why not go two Monk instead of Two rogue if you are not going to be a trapper. You can still run in light armor and get evasion while also gaining Two Feats?

You should focus on 15 Paladin/3 Ranger/2 Monk. You would have enough Feats to get TWF X3, PA, Cleave, Great Cleave, Overwhelming Critical, Improved Critical Ranged, Improved Critical Slashing and if Human you could throw in Toughness or Empower Healing. You must be careful of WHEN you select your Feats. It's a very enjoyable Class mix, with tremendous Burst DPS, Burst Ranged w/ Fury Shot, unbelievable saves with Evasion (all in mid 60's), Huge Dodge, Low AC, and decent PRR. I truly enjoy mine. With Cacoon you are almost Unkillable.

Make something similar with a Blade forged and it really gets nasty.....

Yeah, paladins don't get much between lvls 6 and 14, unfortunately; most of the lvl 2 & 3 spells stink and the core enhs are weak. If you're not going for at least pal 14, I would stop at 6 and many will tell you to stop at 4.

OP: here's a build I'm considering LR+20ing one of my drow pallies into, now that pure pallies are so weak. It's basically a TWF variant on Pyrene. Perhaps it will give you some ideas.

For healing I'll be relying on (Endless) LoHs and Rejuv Cocoon + Emp Heal; EotW / Echoes of Power from AA means I'll have enough SPs for Cocoon (or CMW while it's on cooldown). Here's hoping I don't regret that!

BTW, robes are only necessary on a monk splash if you plan to be centered or want the WIS bonus to AC; otherwise, Evasion works just fine in light armor.

Ultimately you want the 2 levels of Monk for the evasion and two free feats. You will not run in stance and should look for the best light Armor that allows a good PRR and Dodge. Your saves with Evasion will make your build incredibly survivable. DPS in groups should be in Fury for some limited CC and Furyshot. Solo in LD for some real fun. Get Cacoon as fast as you can and you'll really be loving the build. Build your enhancements for DPS and survivability. Your HP will be around 750 at Lvl 28 which isn't bad with the endless healing that you have. Your AC will never be great and your DPS will never be the best but it will be pretty great for a Paladin.

Yeah, Paladin is a class that you should only invest 2-3 levels as a splash or go to at least 15 you do not gain much benefit otherwise. 2 levels of either rogue or monk is strongly recommended for the evasion feat, and probably 1-2 levels of fighter for free tower shield and 1-2 additional feats. The only bad thing is you will only get 2 spell slots at level four spells, and that's where Paladins have some of their best spells, but the tradeoff is worth it.
