Greetings again from your fellow player Olathural. Today I bring to you the news of another fun event, or contest if you will.. Free VIP for 1 month.

To be eligible, you MUST:

- Be a player from Orien, no making a new toon on Oriens' server just to be entered..
- Must post below, or on the other thread, of Why you want VIP status, How you would benefit personally from it for the duration, And why you feel you should be the winner.
- Must post your character name (If you feel like listing them all.. feel free.. this is only to determine that you are in fact from orien, not just a fresh toon to get a chance at the reward)


The contest will run from Todays date of 12/9/13 to 12/23/13 Giving everyone 2 weeks time to come up with a good entry posting. I will be selecting one winner, via a random selector, on 12/24/13, you may continue to post for the Runner Up selection until the 31st.

The runner up will be selected on 12/31/13


I will be pooling favorites from two in-game channels: /Joinchannel Titan and then one of my more private channels. Favorites may receive something in game from me, not entirely sure what yet.

You will only be Entered into the selector if your post follows all the criteria.

At first I thought about entering the contest, if for no other reason because I like supporting Ola's events. Then I thought, what better way to embody the Christmas spirit than to join in on giving something away. So, here's the deal.

On New Year's Day, I'll be giving away an adventure pack of choice (expansions excluded) to one premium or free player out there. As with Ola's VIP gift, you must be a player on Orien, not someone coming over to Orien to take advantage of the contest. For the entry, I'd like to hear the following-

1) Which pack would you like to receive for free and why? What interests you about this pack and how would it enhance your ddo experience?

2) Why would you owning this pack allow you to participate more thoroughly in the ddo community?

I'll tip my hat as to my judging criterion and tell you that I am a pnp veteran who is more interested in lore and plot mechanics than, say wanting a pack simply because it has one coveted item, although such things are valid secondary considerations.

I will award either by having the pack directly gifted to your account (which will at that time require a username) if customer service cooperates, or if I can't do this I'll just do it via a point code. Hoping to hear about the packs you want and why, and good luck to all!

Iffy on return if at all, but...
Erofen(not posting my username Ola., because a. I don't want to and b. It is against the ddo rules afaik): I would like VIP to open elites to help my friends and I get favor and xp. I personally would benefit from the TP, the free gold rolls, and the elite unlock as previously mentioned. I believe I should be the winner, so I can spend my month's time helping the great server that is Orien. ^.^

Good Morning and Good Evening,

As many of you may or may not know me, my name is Axl and I would love to have VIP status for 1 month. The reason why I would like to become VIP is because I've always been so determined to become one even if it's only for one month. I would make sure that I would get the most out of my time as a VIP if I manage to be fortunate enough to even win. Personally, I would be benefit from it for the duration by helping any and all people who needs a quest to be opened on elite. I'm certain that we've all been there before: Constantly making a post on the LFM in hopes that a VIP or 3rd lifer would appear and help out....I know I have and it's been that way for over a year.

I feel that I should be the winner because as a premium free to player, I am limited to what I can do and I wish to be able to receive the full playing experience. In all honesty, I don't expect to win at all because I understand that there are more applicable candidates to becoming VIP. I don't care for the bonus Turbine Points, Experience Point bonuses, nor do I care for free gold rolls, but what I do care about is making sure that I am able to help out the Orien server and any other server the best way that I possibly can.

Why I want VIP status, how I would benefit, and why I should be the winner:
I actually recently sprang for a VIP membership for two months to take advantage of the big offerings Turbine has been putting up for the month of December (Epic TR Hearts for epic VIP characters, the XP bonuses, etc.). This will be expiring after January, and I would love to be able to keep VIP for another month. I like the perks that come with VIP access. It's handy to be able to open elite on non-established toons. The newly added XP bonus is nice, also. Since I own much of the content already, I can't say that I would really be hurting too bad without it. That still does not nullify my "want" of it.

I believe that the greatest benefit for me would be the static XP bonus - it would allow me to keep up with my guildies that are subscribers, as well as other friends. I would also benefit by the granted Turbine Points, and I would likely save them for the next purchasable content that comes our way.

While I would LIKE to be the winner, I'll be honest and state that I do not necessarily believe that I SHOULD be the winner. Our financial situation is not great at the moment. We have enough to provide for ourselves, fortunately, however we do not have a lot of extra for luxuries. I believe that there is likely a far greater deserving player out there than myself - perhaps someone in a similar or worse financial situation that does NOT own much of the game content already. I would not be terribly put out if the contest operator decided that after the random draw my reason was not worthy enough.

However, should I be lucky enough to win, I would probably consider my guildies and my close game friends first, and see if VIP is something that they could benefit from in a greater capacity than I could. If someone I play frequently with could make better use, I would probably pass them the VIP code. If none in my circle needed it, I would likely just plug in the code, enjoy an extra month, and be terribly grateful to Olath.

Well, I only play on Orien. Have three active toons: Kerkos, Seekn and Blighttongue.
I _need_ VIP status because I TRd into a Shadar-Kai bard without fully realizing I'd need to take it all the way to 28 before rerolling again. I need all the help I can get! I run in PUG groups and help people learn qwests instead of zerging them. Randomly being selected for VIP would be a nice paying forward.

You will only be Entered into the selector if your post follows all the criteria, and if it is deemed to be sincere. To this I mean a post that goes more in depth than, I want it because I do, It will give me free TP, and because I think it should be me.. This is not the kind of post that would be entered..

mmm. i should probably drink my daily caffeine before i try to be a smart alec. forgot about that 'change the visible name to anything you want' thing. >.> i kept my katz as that's what everyone here knew me as before, but that's not quite my login name... which i'll post here when i come up with a tale to spin for Ola, cuz... don't care. i played GW2. they have the same thing where you have one username to sign in and forum with... it even simplifies friends lists... you friend (or IGNORE) ONE PERSON, and ANY alt they log on, you can tell who they are...

I WISH THIS GAME HAD THAT. really i do. keeping track of all of Ola's alts would be SO much easier then (as would keeping track of mine, i imagine.)

I want to be a VIP because I strongly believe in not giving money to Turbine while they are making the game more and more pay to win and using cheezy grind mechanics in new content.

I'd benefit from VIP by getting 10% speed boost in towns and +15%? XP on top of my 20% XP pots to get through heroic content quicker. This also translates into me getting more TP/sec, thus making me not having to pay Turbine real money for mediocre content even longer. Oh, and this would also make grinding off-EDs less painful on my epic toons.

As to why I feel that I should be a winner: I have a crappy job, not enough money and the only thing that makes me happy is to see others be more miserable than I am. Thus by giving me VIP for 1 month I will grief other poor and miserable souls (and others if need be) that didn't win the contest and thus making myself less miserable.
