trouble with mouse

i have been away from ddo for 2 years and am just returning to find a very different game, hopefully as enjoyable as i remember, my first major snag though is my mouse no longer works in game, i am currently using the steel series WoW cataclysm mouse it always worked for ddo when i played before so idk if they changed something or if i have to mess around in options but the buttons are working fine outside the game and i just assigned simple things like action bar numbers and cycle targets to the buttons, nothing crazy, the strange thing is some of the default commands on the mouse are working like autorun its all very confusing. Is there something basic i'm missing here? any help would be greatly appreciated

on closer inspection the autorun button that works just has window button 5 assigned to it which is a standard mouse button as far i know so is it that the game somehow just stopped supporting this mouse for some reason

i ended up repairing my issue quite by accident while fixing another issue, decide to post it here rather the resurrect an old thread, while resetting an old dell tower to factory in order to check out ddo again i ran into issues involving uac and firewall of vista and i didn't have friends or chat so all i had to do was reset the user port

1] close the game and loader

2] go to C: > documents > dungeons and dragons online > user preferences

3] while in this readme file hit (ctrl.+f) type in "userinterface". Where is says "=0" change it to "=9000" press save

4] re-open the client loader

for me this solved my no friends, my chat issues, and also (quite unexpectedly) my ability for my mouse to communicate my keymaps to the client

anyways just figured id update my situation and also add this info to yet another place
