    Default Pure HORC Monk

    Hey,

I've been away for a while and just dinged 20 on a very old toon. I want to TR into Monk. I poked around for quite a while for Monk builds and threw something together based on a lot of what I found. I'd love some feedback or corrections on this before I TR since I only kind of cursorily know some of the systems here.

hi. i have a pure monk horc. pretty effective toon, can handle EE and can solo with no problems plenty of quests and some EH raids too.

LN is nice, allows Grave Wrappings on lev 20.

    Abilities Base Stats Modified Stats
    (34 Point) (Level 1) (Level 20)
    Strength 17 25
    Dexterity 15 17
    Constitution 15 15
    Intelligence 6 10
    Wisdom 16 24
    Charisma 6 6

Despite my build is 36p, id suggest you here to decrease STR to 16 and WIS to 15 or 14, trying to start with INT 9 or 10 and focus on different feats.
I myself went for maxing dodge% out and having an high AC. it's a good move for a bunch of reasons:
    - AC doesnt matter basically. but a VERY high AC makes a real difference while leveling up and makes things way easier and quicker. it will still come handy up to EH content. in EE, AC totally doesnt matter BUT you will rely on dodge 28%, incorporeality and displacement once there.
    - it's easy to build up on a monk due to its bonuses and sinergy with WIS (which you may want to boost for increasing your moves DC). i used all my lev ups into WIS indeed rather than STR. and still deal enough DPS to be useful in EE. you might want consider this option.
    - heroic elites at level like spinner of shadow, LoB and even EH demon queen pre raid become dramatically easier.
    - you'll be in ultimate earth stance most of the time (if not always), which also boosts AC via percentage. the higher, the better.

    Power Attack
i hardly renounced to this but it paid off later.

    Cleave
    Great Cleave
without PA, these are off too and so is overwhelming crit.

    Improved Critical: Bludgeoning Weapons
another feat i didnt pick. here i dont know if i got and advantage or not (probably not) but let's say you keep this.

    Improved Sunder
it's nice to boost quivering palm with a +4 but i had to renounce to this too. much easier to boost stunning fist which works also in EE where QP becomes less effective.

the 5 feat slots i saved this way went to mobility, spring attack and combat expertise (that's why starting INT 9/10). the first two for increasing dodge (which is almost the only reliable source of defense in EE), the latter due to the AC boost and the PRR boost it gets twisting ICE from LD tier2 (which stacks with earth stance PRR, making you able to survive EE dmg). the remaining 2 slots has been assigned to toughness and whirlwind attack (which requires CE).
you may rather get rid of toughness eventually and keep imp crit but you'll be amazed about the power of whirwind attack on a monk.
my general pattern is drawing aggro from a large group of mobs (which i can substain easily due to high AC/PRR/dodge) and start spamming 360 with +4[W]. each whirlwind hits twice by default. note that it has half a second of freeze after performing (decreasing your individual DPS but boosting the general overall dps since hitting all mobs twice in the same time) thus you may want to use it only when surrounded by many foes. on 1to1 combat stay still and use normal attack sequence.

as epic feats i went for improved martial arts, bulwark of defense, holy strike, blinding speed and elusive target. probably not the best choice but works on my build.

    Horc Tree:
I've spent only 3 AP in horc tree: fury1 and brute fightingII to have a bit more hate. you can get mighty sundering to slightly boost QP but, as i said, you'd better rely on stun.

    Ninja Tree:
Spent 26 AP in here. went for WIS1 and flashbang (high WIS, better flashbang effect). dunno why you went for stealthy and faster sneaking, you're not an assassin nor someone needing to sneak. save those AP (to get your sneak attack use ring of deceit, pretty powerful or any imp deception gear). the rest is good with no mercy, dodge and veil.

    Shintao Tree:
45 AP, all good. i agree on kukan-do over phoenix. it's not like you're gonna die that much. at least, i die so few my AP in phoenix would be more a waste than a bonus.

    Heishin Tree:
i've spent 3 AP in here, tortoise form is nice for concentration bonus (more KI) and a bunch of more HP. you might save these AP tho, and invest them in Horc for imp sunder as you did.

    my twists are mainly these:
    tier I cocoon
    tier II Imp CE, lithe
tier IV sense weakness, paired parry/symetric strikes

it's a decent toon, can boost AC from 121 to 156 and has a PRR of 78, still increasable tho but i lack of augments/gear in that direction, nice survivability, effective in EE, still improvable and fun.
I fail better than anyone else

    Default Love My Horc Monk

Hey man just thought I'd shoot a reply on your build, I think it's pretty sweet.
I always wanted to play a Monk and had a 12/6/2 Pally/Tempest/Monk ready to TR, so I went ahead and rolled up/TR'd into a Horc strength based Monk. I enjoyed the build so much that I quickly got to 25 ( pre UD 20 ) and TR'd into another Horc Monk for her first life with a Legend Build.

She's actually gonna end up being 18/2 Dark Monk/Fighter splash.

    Her stats atm are around

    Strength : 40
    Dexterity : 30
    Constitution : 26-28
    Intel: 14
    Wisdom : 32
    Charisma : 10

These are approximates, anyway, anyone with a spare slot and your wondering what character to roll....give the Monk class a try, by far they are the most fun of the Melee classes to play imo.

I strongly disagree with this statement, qp is great in EE on a properly built character.
