    Default Pets Question

Looking to build a herd of pets. If I had a multiclass druid, PM, and arty would I be able to summon all three pets at the same time?

No, you can have 1 class pet and 1 summon at a time. Nothing else.

Well, you could cheat it a bit with the panther, so it looks like you have a small herd of animals. The panther, the class summon, and the summon monster summon.

    (A) No, you can't and (B) even if you could, it'd be a bad idea, because pets scale with your class level, not your character level. Better to be a pure build with a single strong pet than a MCed build with 3 really weak pets.

Well, if pets weren't a trap in the first place, at any rate.

If you're factoring Gold Seal hirelings in, you can also have the owlbears and anything else you buy off the Store up to max party size.

Too bad we can't be a bear druid riding a bear while summoning a bear alongside your bear companion. Sigh.

But you can be a wolf druid in wolf form with your wolf companion, wolf pup, and wolf summon. It is almost the same thing.

My best herd of of pets was me in druid wolf form + druid wolf pet + druid summon + cosmetic wolf pup pet + normal Hireling who can summon, so + his pet. It's more of a pack than a herd.

At higher levels I didn't look too hard but never found a hireling that could summon to match with the Panther and Owlbear. More of a menagerie at those levels rather than a pack or a herd but still fun if you're so inclined.

PS if anyone knows of a high level Hireling that can summon speak up!

I recently played with a druid (wolf form), with his wolf, a panther, both owlbears, companion pet, his summons, a hireling, and its summons. So 9 things all together.
