Long text passages are not for everybody, I understand. But the way they are presented puts off even those who would like to read dialogs and notes that can be found along the way.
Starting with notes; for example those vampire diaries in "A Study in Sable" or the journals in wilderness areas, they are so small even on my 1280x1024 resolution, which is rather low nowadays.
It wouldn't be a problem to double box dimensions and increase the font size, it would still fit on a 800x600. Perhaps get rid of the scroll bars too in that process, since they break the immersion of looking at a note.
Dialog boxes are similar and could use higher dimensions and font size. A scroll bar doesn't matter as much but is usually the result of too many answer options and not using the full screen height.
An algorithm to get the height and adapt boxes to it would be great. It could also be used to solve the problem of examining an item with too many enchantments (where a part of that box is off screen) by giving it a scroll bar.
I would post pictures of the examples but the attachement manager fails on every browser I use.
In short:
Make use of bigger screen resolutions to improve reading experiences.
