Default Best ML:1 Item with Augment - Master's Gift

Okay, so I've apparently been a little slow on finding out about the Master's Gift: http://ddowiki.com/page/The_Master%27s_Gift

I'm just wondering what people think is the best ML1 item to slot this on to bridge the LVL 1-4 gap for TR's?

Currently I'm planning on slotting it on a Jade Ring - is there something more obvious I am missing?

Other question: do BTA standard items ever drop with Augment slots? I've yet to find one...

Personally since at the lowest levels I tend to just run with what I pull from quests and some just from the AH, I actually just slot it in a helm that has an augment slot, that I deconstructed so there is nothing else on it, and the ML stays at 1.

I have mine in a FF ring from level 1 until I deconstruct it and make it a +6 stat that I would currently need.

If you deconstruct something with a filled augment slot, does the augment stay then?

Yes, deconstruction doesn't destroy augments, so you can use the same piece of Master's Gift base gear and recraft it to your heart's content.

Incidentally, I'd also go with Feather Falling plus a colourless slot.

Its not perfect answer for your question, but I don't use it at all.
At lvl5 I draw voice or mantle and I'm set.

Only other one I could think of..

    Bloodknuckle's Loincloth Waistband
    (Kobolds' New Ringleader)
    -Fortification 25%
    -Yellow Augment Slot

My personal preference is actually slotting it in something that I'll wear consistently in mid to late levels, if I can. I find that before level 5, the 5% exp is so insignificant on the vast majority of quests that you'll do that it's almost a waste to slot it into something you'll just wear for those levels. Aside from that, there are enough quests that you should be able to cap all of your levels from 1-4 just by doing all quests in the level range.

That being said, if you WERE going to slot it somewhere for those low levels, I'd go with the previous suggestions and make it a crafted item so that you could re-use it, at least into mid levels.

Since I have a high level crafter I fit it on a ring that I deconstruct and re-craft as I see fit during each life. I have TR'd several times and put different things on the ring each life although I usually end up with greater life at some point.

I also start it out on a crafted feather-falling ring that I leave on for quite a while. As I level up, I just change what else is on that ring.

It really depends on what you are doing. On my main Saaluta, I deconstructed a ring with a colorless slot and put feather fall on it. I then put the stone of change recipe for +1 to all saves on the ring and pretty much wear that ring thru my TR's. Since I have a high level crafter, I have quite a few crafted items that I can interchange instead of having a steady wearable slot for everything, so it basically stays on my finger giving me +5% xp, feather fall, and +1 to saves at all times.

On my higher level characters, I can put it into different items depending on their class and what I have free, for instance on my monk, I use the treasure hunters spyglass in my trinket slot and have slotted it there since this gives her true sight among other bonuses, while she is doing her epic tr. Once I get back to 28, she won't need that item anymore as TS will go to her goggle slot and I can use one of the jeweller kits I got from daily rolls to slot something different in there for another character.

As to your second question, I have yet to see a BTA standard item with a slot, but that does not mean they are not out there.

Yes (linky). I have picked up two BTA randomgen armours with white slots from Threnal chain rewards for sure. I don't remember where I got another two, and have never, ever seen any BtA nonnamed nonarmour with slots. Caveat: I haven't seen slots in BtA end rewards for three or four lives on my TR, so something may have changed since I picked mine up.
I Cannith-craft (150 levels in all schools) for free on Thelanis if you provide all needed materials.

I put mine on a crafted FF ring with masterful craftsmanship. Later I unslotted it to put on an item with a Vitality augment.

I have 3 of these augments crunched up from TR lives they are simple and easy to make.

    1) I keep on a pair of Gloves with a colorless slot. I generally craft Alacrity and Strength on the gloves as I level I adjust them every so often

the other two will be crafted somewhere into my Epic gear around level 20 and around 25 have not decided 100% on where yet

Edit* I wear gift now 100% of the time and before hand I wore Mantle 100% of the time.

this is just an estimate for those saying they don't care about 5% 100% of the time

when Cap was 4378500 5% came to 218925 XP a life after 18 lives that's about 3940650 XP that is basically a free Heroic life with todays XP curve

5% is a big number when your doing a lot of TRs.

I'm also the splash Rog or Arti for Trap bonus 100% of the time no exceptions 15% is even better in the quests where traps bonuses are convenient.

I'm almost the same, but I use Boots rather than a Ring. FF at level 1, then later upgraded to FF with Resistance +5 or FF with Good Luck +2.
