I got to thinking the other day on how new players can feel a bit... well... under equipped when they first start playing the game. I remember keeping some stuff I'd now consider vendor trash just because I didn't have anything better and I couldn't afford much in the AH. During that train of thought I remembered the M.U.D I played on way back (MHS represent!) used to have a pit in where anyone could drop items and anyone took take items out.
I'd like to propose something similar for DDO, (with some limits) and perhaps tie it in with Festivult. The idea is to provide new players with a chance at some of the items more experienced players would consider junk on their way through leveling an alt or HTR, and without forcing the new player to scrounge for plat.
Basically I would like to suggest that a Festivult vendor be put into Korthos where a player can "sell" (no plat given to seller) up to ML:4 items and that a new player could "buy" an item from that vendor for say 1 copper Festivult coin. I think that it might be a good way for new players to build up some decent EQ.
So again my suggestion is:
- A new Festivult vendor
- buys up to (and including) minimum level 4 equipment
- does not give seller plat
- allows purchase of any donated item for 1 copper Festivult coin
- help out new players
- spread cheer
- ...
- profit! (warm and fuzzy feelings)
Comments? Has this been suggested before? It's just an idea with a rough frame work... maybe you could do a give an item, get an item thing but I'd of course leave that up for part of the discussion.
