    Default Utility Build -- Thrower/SLA user

    Hi all,

    I've been through a bunch of lives on my main toon with pretty standard builds. I've been aching to try something novel for a while now, though - a flavor build. I know throwing weapons are pretty terrible, but I wanted to make a character that could use them, along side some empowered/max'd SLAs as their main source of damage. Because I know that there's no way any build with that damage base could be a particularly effective damage dealer, I also want to be something of a utility build - trapping and UMD abilities would be nice. In terms of lore/flavor, the idea is a poison/acid based deepwood stalker kind of guy. Throwing weapon (Nightforge Spike? Epic Noxious Fang? Spelltouched throwing weapons from Eveningstar challenges?) in one hand, some sort of magical implement, or potentially rune arm, in the other. I have 3 arti past lives, 1 cleric past life, and +5 tomes for every ability. Below are two variations of the build I came up with. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    First of all: Throwing Weapons are absolutely viable with the right build! Check the pure monk build in my signature for an EE viable pure thrower.

    If you want UMD, trapskills and SLA's though you clearly need a different build. I think with your builds you are spreading too thin. To have a thrower that is fun and viable you need to take all the feats that buff throwing weapon damage and speed (which are quite a lot) and to have good SLA's you need at least Maximize, Quicken and Empower and you will have too few SP to last long with other spells and after some buffs. Also by far the best throwers need at least 3 levels of monk (Ninja Spy II), shuriken expertise and use shuriken and a high DEX.

    Perhaps i would go for something with Artie/Rogue/Wizard or Monk/Rogue/Wizard since those will have the best Synergies with INT and DEX and take the Archmage Tree for Force SLA's and try the Shiradi route in Epics which is good for both throwers and Force SLA's.

    To be honest though i think you will either use your SLA's or your throwing weapons in endgame so i would focus on one of those.
