    Default Merde from France

Well kids are fed, I am clean and still no game. I really hope I get a goody bag, did I, did I, did I get one? I hope the forum elves can grant me my little wish for a wash or will they remain wishy washy about their schedules.

Does this mean I can finally get rid of the message in harbor that says 'complete Tavnar Kronnak's quest'?

I love it when the servers stop working unexpectedly, in a sad, yet funny way. I can see all the staff at Turbine scrambling around like panicked mice trying to figure out what went wrong while at the same time taking calls from customers upset about the sudden outage demanding huge compensation. It puts a grin on my face.

Ooh! Ooh! Or put it in inverted commas and make an official running gag out of it. That's a much better idea.

Er... *embarrassed pause* I'll go away and stop teaching you to suck eggs now.
Or more accurately; It would be nice to be given an hour notice after you guys come in and notice that there is a downtime on the schedule to be done for hotfixes.

Or someone who makes that call should be the one pinging everyone who would make that announcement, and or make that announcement.

However, at the same time, said hat may not have the sole responsibility, and the person who truly does never can make the announcement for security reasons, or there is a group and you can't make the announcement until everyone is there to weigh in (measuring the importance of the hotfixes).

I guess a fix for that would be to have the priority for the fix, or assign one that automatically bypasses the vote protocols; if it is a pri0 or 1 hotfix, as soon as it passes test, schedule and make an announcement. If pri 2 or lower (higher numerically), no need to announce, perhaps just push to patch schedule.

Where I work its called "controlled" or "uncontrolled"
If the service is down because we brought it down on purpose, it is a controlled event.

The idea of a schedule includes the idea of being planned in advance, it also includes the idea of being announced in advanced, like update 20 was announced in advanced. This downtime wasn't announced in advance therefore it wasn't, in any definition that doesn't include irony, scheduled.

I will be adding this to the Known Issues shortly. Spies in the House is currently not able to be completed on Epic Hard and Epic Elite difficulty. You should be able to complete it on Epic normal or Heroic difficulties. We'll work on a fix for this for a future update.

....Is more than just the use of the word 'Scheduled'. So you scheduled it and let the staff and developers know but didn't let the user community know. So the root of the issue, and why I think people complain about it, is the lack of respect for and communication with the player base.

Okay, and how about A Small Problem, which also cannot be completed on Epic Elite?

The announcement was made to the community within minutes of it being approved in-house, so no, there was no letting staff and developers know but not informing the community. Seriously, though, folks, let's move beyond discussing the definition of the word "Scheduled", it's not really all that relevant. The key issue is that we inform you as quickly as we can, which we did in this case. We could have waited to push the hotfix live, but felt that the fix to Beyond the Rift was important to get out as soon as possible, and today's window made for the best time to do it, so we messaged everyone and proceeded.
