    Default Mighty Grandmaster Kensei

    Playing around with the character generator again and came up with something that seems fun and a little different. How about an 80 strength Half Orc swinging a greataxe that hits for X7 crits, has evasion and self heals fairly well? Let me know whatcha think.

    Greataxe x7 crit = 3 base + 1 OC + 1 dev critical + 1 headsman chop + 1 gm earth

    SB DC 71 = 10 base + 10 stunning item + 35 str mod + 6 leg tact + 5 exc item + 2 pl fighter +3 kensei tactics

    Self buffed Str 80 = 20 base + 7 lvl ups + 5 tome + 6 heroic enh + 8 powersurge + 10 divine might + 10 item + 1 exc + 2 rage spell clicky + 2 ship + 5 primal scream + 1 great str + 3 ED enh

    Cha 30 = 12 base + 4 tome + 10 item +3 ins + 1 exc

    Positive Healing Power 502 = 75 emp healing + 75 empower + 150 maximize + 10 shintao bop + 16 radiant servant HD and Altruism + 120 item + 20 esp: positive + 36 heal skill

    cure serious, cocoon and ameliorating strike should heal for a decent amount

    inflame adds another +4 att and dam
    divine favor adds another +2 att and damage

    I reaaaaally wouldn't want to give up Shadow Veil on a centered monk build these days; what about ftr 10 / monk 6 / cleric or FvS 4? You give up Power Surge and lvl 3 spells, unfortunately; but it's a net gain of 1 feat, since you get Adept of Forms free.

    I like shadow veil also but I want to keep the str up on this build as well as having cure serious for some self sufficiency. A ghostly item will give 10% so not a huge loss and not a deal breaker imo. I certainly appreciate the feedback. Thank you for your reply.

    I had a similar build planned using 6 pal instead of 6 cleric, trading better heals for better saves. 6 pal still gives you cure light, and adds LoH and US (also available to cleric I know) so the healing is still very respectable. It's basically a variation of Cetus that trades shadow veil and light/dark moves for better healing and saving a twist on turns (might sacrifice ranged option to focus on melee also). Now I'll have to consider this build also, though I think I prefer the saves.

    One note, rage clicky does not stack with primal scream, so you're at 78 str (unless referring to madstone).

    I just built a 12 Fighter/6 Paladin/2 Monk Bladeforged, duel wielding Deathnips (well, I only have 1 Deathnip so far). I do miss Shadow Veil, but figured with 25 SP Quickened Reconstructs, I could due without. Also, I'm planning on going heavy into the Bladeforged tree (Reconstuct, Tactics, PRR, Weapon Attachment, and Adamantime/Racial Seeker), so needing to spend 11 AP's on Shadow Veil was going to be tough. Plus 12 Fighter allows for Power Surge.

    Paladin is a good choice as well. I'm curious how much of a heal I'm going to get from ameliorating strike. I expect it to be pretty good which will be very helpful in all areas of questing. Inflame is also interesting to me. If it does work with combat brute, then its going to have nice synergy. The better healing was something I was after also. The saves should be adequate with gear and buffs. We'll see. At some point I plan to TR one of my toons into this build. Thanks for your replies.

    In your count to 80 STR you list a rage spell clicky and primal scream. Rage Spells and Primal Scream don't stack. You are missing the temporary boost of yugoloth potions though so that might actually push you that high.

    Have you tested how much Cure Serious Wounds heals you with that build? The cost of the spell is 12+10(Emp. Heal)+15(Emp.)+25(Max.)+10(Quicken)=72 spellpoints for a heal of 3d6+12 (with a caster level of 6 from cleric) which averages to 22,5 HP which will be multiplied by your spellpower. So even if you could reach a spellpower of 500 you would only heal 112 HP on average for 72 Spellpoints (not including Healing Amp). Seems not much to me for the investment of four feats and your probably few spellpoints will be empty quickly.

    Should have over 1000 spell points with gear but ya, not a lot. I was hopeful cure serious would heal for more than that but its really only there for backup. Main self healing would be cocoon and ameliorating, which the feats will improve greatly. All the necessary dps feats are there so nothing is lost by taking the spell power feats. But ya, if your point is that this is not a strong self healing build, you are correct. Probably be sufficient for normal and hard but require a healer for EE, as most melee builds do. The idea with this build was to get high str and use that str to swing a greataxe with x7 crits and also provide some self sufficiency.
