Default Repeater Tankish Pure Fighter Build

This isn't going to be a build I stay at forever its just something to get through a fighter life as I am not particularly a fan of the pure melee classes. The intent here is to be primarily ranged dps but to have half decent tanking abilities if I ever need too and also is going to use a greataxe for w/e situation I might want to which should be decent enough dps with this build. (obviously wont be top dps by any means)
Any thoughts opinions suggestions? O and 20 fighter is a must I want to keep it pure.

why don't you do a "cheat life"? that's where you take a lvl12 multi class build that can cope with heroics and slap 8 levels of the past life you need (or 10-11 of your past life and the remainder in another class, with 10 you need to find which class takes precedence). something like a 6 rogue 6 arti would probably be better for you with 8 fighter on top for bonus feats.

lvl6 rogue and mechanic core 3 will give you INT to damage, 2nd lvl arty spell will give you INT to attack. you could build to lvl12 with just the arty and rogue then take 8 fighter as you work on towards cap.

    Probably because the OP said:

i know, but with an opening statement of "This isn't going to be a build I stay at forever its just something to get through a fighter life as I am not particularly a fan of the pure melee classes." it does kinda scream time for a cheat life.

with 12 base STR melee is going to be a bit lackluster, not really the panic button it could be if things go pear shaped. the repeater won't get any bonus to damage with no arty or rogue splash, so will suffer a bit from the fade as mobs HP move up past the repeaters sweet spot. now if it was a STR/DEX based archer with a longbow then maybe things would synergise a bit more.

just thinking if the OP wants to avoid melee then why not revise the requirements and go for something built to shine at ranged combat just to bag this fighter life and move forwards?

i guess going bow based would tick the pure fighter box. STR for damage and DEX for attack, that will make TWF easy to fit in and melee the viable backup it could be. ok, so for flavour THF with a dorf axe and shield would keep the tanky bits in place but with STR for dmg on the bows any melee stance will work well.

i'm guessing the draw of the repeater is the OP has some good ones in the bank. i'd just be reluctant to run with the repeater when getting close to lvl20 as without a nice boost to it's damage i can see things taking a frustrating amount of time to kill. with rogue on the PL feats list i'm guessing the OP has a mechanic past life, personally i love the repeater mechanic but even with an INT focus it's annoying when i lose my fist full of sneak attack dice.

not sure about the progression into epics either, i thought the aim would be 20 then TR?

i'm also thinking it's not just the melee the OP doesn't like, it's also the initial lack of self sufficiency. that's another reason to go multi, or i guess trade the dorf tanky bits in for helf or halfling and some healing from that route.

i just get the feeling the OP would have more fun with a build that plays to their tastes so they can enjoy the life instead of suffering through it. i do get the wanting to stay pure thing, the vast bulk of my characters are all pure, but then i enjoy the variety of play styles i have when i log on. can't say i'd ever want to do 1-20 in a build i didn't enjoy!

Str is practically irrelevant with this build if you look at the enhancements I posted my dmg is determined by my con mod not my str. I won't be using TWF at all will be THF, sword and board or repeater/bow. You are correct i have a plethora of nice repeaters from PL's and other repeater builds (love em). I want to stay pure because this toon is a purist completionist project (I already have another completionist that I did mostly multi's on). I have also been playing around with the planner and might make some changes so that I can swap between kensei and dwarf enh whenever I want for that extra pow if I feel like solo'ing or running something where we need dps. I'm gunna start this build this weekend I think I'll post an update with my final plan once I've made all the major decisions.

ahh yes, still not used to that use of CON

ok, so we're still stuck with base weapon damage on the repeater with no way to boost it. i assume you've got a rogue and an arty past life if you love repeaters, have you got another life that couldn't add INT to damage or load it up in another way? i guess it isn't a show stopper, but personally i'd miss the additional damage i can rack up on my mechanic. with a paralyser at lvl10 and the doublecross bow at lvl16 (massive fan of that one!) time to kill a mob just won't matter, so yeah, not really a show stopper, but are you confident it will be fun? tick that fun box and really nothing else matters!

thanks for letting us know why you want to stay pure, much easier to understand now i know that.
