I'm working with the assumption that Turbine developers are normal people and feel the same way anyone else would. If you've got proof that Turbine developers are, in fact, not human, please let me know and I'll stop attributing human thoughts to them.

Actually, my post was based on the assumption that other players of this game were, like Turbine developers, human and able to see the benefits of an arguably more efficient way for (at least a segment of) people to get their questions and thoughts across.

Unfortunately, I'm abandoning this effort, primarily due to one of the problems it was meant to help address - the negativity of the forums community.

When I was attempting to condense my abstract ideas into words for the original post, I was genuinely excited about the potential of this idea. I had spoken to a number of people who play this game, both in the real world and on the Cannith server, and I received very positive feedback. In my naivete, I assumed that people on the forums would respond in a similar way, despite it being common knowledge that the forums can be unpleasant.

Sadly, from day one, I've been assailed by criticism. People have been viewing my posts through a filter of cynicism, or in many cases, not even bothering to read through them at all before responding with poorly thought out, rambling posts with no purpose other than to attempt to evoke a response.

I can't honestly say I understand why people enjoy "trolling", especially when it's directed towards a person who's trying to promote an idea that he believes to be beneficial for everyone. Disagreement is healthy and productive, being unpleasant for unpleasantness's sake helps nobody. With that being said, it bothers me only because of the immaturity it reflects on the part of all the people who partake in such idiocy. Yes, I've responded to a lot of the stupidity that I've seen here, but I can't imagine that these people feel accomplished when I fail to fly off the handle (which is, presumably, the intended reaction).

Now, despite what many posts in this thread might lead a reader to believe, I actually got a lot of guilds and players interested on the server itself. I've not sure if I explained my thoughts better, or if they were just more willing to listen. However, the intent of this was never to stir up controversy, and although I've found far more supporters than opponents, there are enough of the latter to render the effort pointless.

I contacted Turbine several days ago with no response, leading me to believe that they felt lack of acknowledgement to be the path of least resistance.

I don't really feel a need to waste any more time on this, since it obviously isn't going to happen at this point, due to both unpleasant people on the forums and Turbine seeming to have no interest in even responding. However, I'd like to end this short-lived movement with one last thought: anybody can dislike my idea or disagree with my thoughts, but anybody making absurd claims about my "hidden agenda" are simply being willfully ignorant.

Regardless of how anyone (incorrectly) perceived what I've been saying, my intentions for this movement were only good ones, and I still genuinely believe that this could have been a great thing if both players and Turbine had given it a chance.

No response was pretty much the expected response on Turbine's part. Even though we associate Turbine with particular personalities (Glin, Tolero, FoS) it is a corporation and part of an even bigger entity (Warner). They rarely if ever will step outside the parameters for interacting with the public that are set forth in their internal policies. And even if they were to decide to do so, it will take multiple attempts and a whole lot of time.

Thus why rallying a multitude works better at getting their attention and bringing about results.

i read your post and my comments were in response to it.I will lift some passages directly from your post for clarity of my points earlier.

"As a Turbine developer, it's undoubtedly overwhelming to see a massive amount of posts on any given subject. Furthermore, since most of the forumites can't seem to agree on anything other than "things are broken and something should probably be done", as a developer and/or producer, I'm sure it's difficult to determine what exactly the player base DOES want. This is, of course, made even more complicated by the fact that the majority of players aren't even active on the forums!"

    - your are claiming to know what it feels like to be a turbine developer.

" one of the problems Turbine undoubtedly encounters is a lack of unity among their player base."

    - Really. How can you possibly know this ?

So i stand by what i said earlier.
"Player testers have done an excelent job and I really do appreciate the testing done by the players that report the issues which then get ignored ......."

    Default Guild of One

I started John's guild. It is a guild of one player, myself. I am as powerful as the next guild. The game si not about guild play to begin with, it's about players. The is the ultimate vote in of the game, make money. Personally, I am surprised Turbine doesn't post simple thing such as polls or provide server status on the home page. I'm a VIP player. I pay to play. For all the moaning gamers make, there are people that still pay. There are people that enjoy the game. I think anyone that has invested real currency in the game should have a say if you open the game up to player decision making. Here is a better solution, it's called data mining and analytics. Turbine should mine it's own data of complaints, criticisms and ideas to formulate a better response to the community as a whole. Turbine can prioritize things based on complexity, cost and impact to provide us a preview of things to come. This concept is called vision and leadership. Turbine actual has the tools it needs to look at player concerns and address them while expanding the experience. This person is on the mark about unions. Ironically, Unions take power away from the player.

    3. 95% of the people in the big guilds who do join WON'T get a Say - One Person per guild = Rofl!

    4. As someone who regularly posts on these forums and who does attempt to make constructive suggestions wherever possible AND as someone who plays this game very differently to yourself I will continue to do things my own way thank you very much. {Not having a go at you personally or your gaming preferences - Just saying that those preferences should NOT be given preference over other people's.}.

    5. Oh and Unions are and always have been a bad idea that gives far too much power to a minority - Completely the Opposite of what they were designed to do btw!
