Default Elf - Child of nature.

I've tried this spell/ability at 19th level. It doesn't seem to work for me. I get to see some pretty vines, but it doesn't affect monsters at all.

Has anyone gotten this ability to work?

This ability has a DC, doesn't it? What build were you using?

Regular Ranger type build - nothing fancy. The tooltip says 10+ 1/2 Character level + Wisdom. That's DC 24-25 or so. Against Normal - Junk CR 17 mobs it should do something unless it's bugged. However, no one's mentioned it as a bug, so This is why I started the thread to see if any elves had gotten it to work. It might be broken like Drow venomed blades or I might be doing something wrong.

I'm not wanting hints or stuff like "Have you got any +X transmutation gear," or "Have you done _______ to bump up your wisdom?", or "You should play ________ and use Heighten spell", or "Elves suck, play warforged!", or "Use the clickie on __________, instead", or . . . . I hope you get my drift.

DC 25 should do something to CR 17 trash mobs. I'm not trying to get this to work on epic elite Lord of Blades. Even my DC 17 spike growth does something on trash mobs.

This spell seems to be doing absolutely nothing for me. I don't see saves being made, I don't ever see a monster slow down a bit, nothing. It seems like it is only a cosmetic effect.

I'm trying to find out if anyone has gotten the elf ability to work.

You need to start an elf and read the tooltip there, DDO wiki does not show the tooltips.

Hate to answer my own question, but . .. I was able to test this out in Searing heights.

It appears there is very little feedback from the ability. You might see the monsters attacking a little bit slower, but I didn't see any slower movement. When the effect ends, you see a tiny blue silent fireworks display. There is no other feedback - not in combat channel nor anywhere else that I see.

They don't seem to have the DC correctly calculated. It seems to take the level of the spell (one) - not half the level of the character. This basically makes the ability worthless. The very small area rarely will affect more than one creature who will instantly save without providing feedback that the ability didn't work. The 10 sp + 1 hp cost is excessive and needless.

I would avoid this ability like the plague.
