    Default Drow Thief help

My drow toon its about to reincarnate using the +20 LDHoW she only has 11 lvls My first idea was making a kensai with longbows, but know i have to change it. Because my ward needs urgently a fix, and i dont want 2 characters so similar.
So i think. Why not be a thief and try to use the detect trap racial enhacement? And it will be nice if she can disable traps and lock pick
And then the questions came to my mind. Multiclass with fighter? to take advantage with the extra feats? With monk and be something weird with staf? or with ranger and take the tempest line with sneak attak?

I need some to enlighten me

A pure rogue Assassin - sorry, D&D stopped calling them "thieves" after 2E - is still your best choice for sneak atk DPS; and a drow makes a natural fit with rogue thanks to their INT & DEX bonuses.

    Here's a sample build:
    Code:

Either Shadowdancer for the extra SA, +Assassinate DCs, Fortification reduction, and Shadow Form; or Legendary Dreadnought / Fury of the Wild for better "raw" DPS - my hunch is FotW is better for a dagger/kukri dual-wielder, but someone who's better at crunching DPS numbers than me could tell you for sure. I'd probably start SD, make Stealthy your first Twist (+6 Assassinate DCs), then explore some of the other EDs.

Depends on what you are doing.

If you are trying to farm fate points, then all directions are good.

Likely most useful is to head to Legendary Deadnought so you get two martial spheres maxed out for Epic Destiny feats.

Shadowdancer really is the best for an assassin build.

Shiradi is great for ranged rogues.

Spalshing monk grandmaster could be good.

Otherwise the rest are just for grinding out fate points.

farming fate points form me, at least with my tank, its like a pain in the "know where" imagine a dwarf with 132 AC trying to be a monk... i cant imagine it farming the caster E.D.
maybe with the rouge can be easily.
The bad thing farming its that, for me at leastt, its boring, not hard, boring, theres almost nothing good to your toon there =(

DDO, like a lot of MMOs, is a game with diminishing returns; how much effort are you willing to invest to squeeze out an extra +1% DPS here or +1% survivability there?

That said, a first-life drow rogue who chooses to stick with Shadowdancer because they hate ED farming - and I'm with you, I find XP-farming of any kind about as "fun" as watching paint dry - should still do great at its primary function, namely killing mobs dead thru lots of sneak atks & Assassinate. Anything you can add to that thru Twists is pure gravy, IMHO.

EDIT: now, that said, my build relies on maxing out two Martial EDs and one Primal ED to get the ED feats I selected; if you don't expend that kinda effort, you can just take Toughness (twice).

Yeah, but in others MMO you can freely go here and there, killing all in your way, and pvp here and there, even became a pk. But this kind of game dosent have that.
I get a lot of fun with my thank, and i imagine with a rogue can be more fun, the only question that came to my mind is, there are ways that your character dont get nothing, and you can get bored. Its effort necesary?

i know an answer, reincarnation =P i dont know if its the only one =D

Unbongwah, is this still considered a viable build over a year later? I haven't played the last few years, so working on getting a feel for my rogue again. What do you recommend for an attack rotation, since mine's now gone?

Harper has changed things quite a bit for assassins. There's also a few feats in that build that I wouldn't bother with anymore. Check out Hassan's Assassin in my sig for a current assassin build. It's built as a human but there are suggestions for converting it to a drow if that's what you want to play.

Thanks for the update, CThru. I've been enjoying your builds, seeing an up-to-date assassin build is going to be fun.

The core build still works; if you have Harper, it gets better, thanks to INT-to-dmg (Strategic Combat) and Know the Angles (boosts dmg based on INT similar to how Div Might boosts DPS based on CHA). Overwhelming Crit dropped its STR and Gt Cleave pre-reqs - only pre-req. is an Imp Crit feat - so I would ditch Imp Sunder to take it. And w/out Imp Sunder, I might ditch Power Atk and just use Precision full-time; that would let you dump STR.

    Here's one option for drow:

12 APs saved for Harper: that's enough for Strategic Combat I&II (INT to-hit & dmg); Know the Angles; +1 INT; and Versatile Adept (+2 Melee Power). [If you don't have Harper, those APs can be spent anywhere you like.] I invested heavily into Acrobat for the defensive (knockdown immunity, Shadow Dodge, Imp Defensive Roll) and offensive (No Mercy, Haste Boost, Sly Flourish) perks.

The advantage to starting DEX 17 is you don't need any tomes at all until lvl 24, where you need to hit DEX 21 for Imp Sneak Atk; I presumed a +3 DEX tome with 1 lvl-up into DEX.

Try a Halfling! The sneak damage and dodge bonus on that tree makes a great assassin or mechanic.
