    Default Received Malware Warning

This is odd. Got this warning when I tried to go to this link (from a google search):

    http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/175911

    Very strange.

I wouldn't worry about it. Chrome's malware detection is overly sensitive at times. There is likely a script on that page link (dndvault.ign.com) that has been used for less than savory purposes, but not necessarily by dndvault.

also IGN is not affiliated with DDO in any way, is a terrible generic games site, and has been since it's inception on the interwebs, and no one should go there.

Google was trying to tell you the information in that link is horribly outdated and should probably not be trusted.

One of the images imbedded into that thread is from wrathofzombie.files.wordpress.com, and it appears to contain a "tracking jpg" for dndvault.ign.com. A tracking jpg is a 0x0 image, that displays nothing, but has an img file reference to a url, in this case dndvault.ign.com/DemonStone/IlliustheSorcerer.jpg
Every time that image is used, regardless of if it's rehosted, the "tracking jpg" stuck in the image causes you to ping dndvault.ign.com, and they know you're using the picture.

Google is probably sensitive to that, and the tracking image technique is probably flagged by them. It's not a huge deal, in this case, I don't think.

Whilst the malware message is over dramatic and unlikely to be true, Turbine really needs to get on top of problems like this quickly.

i get this now and then from some webcomics i read. it's normally due to a bad advert getting into their ad stream and resolves itself in a week or two

so nuts to firefox, i'll stick with chrome jumping all over bad ads. hey, maybe if the offer wall was chrome based that would have worked?
