Default If we are hellbent on sagas for hearts...

If we are hellbent on sagas for hearts can you at least make them level appropriate? Meaning heroic sagas for heroic hearts.

Also why not 1 saga 1 heart? What does it hurt besides people stop buying hearts from store? You are making us all realize that you really are making things harder to get in game while adding them into the store which was the original concern/lashing out years ago when DDO store was introduced.

Also and most importantly BTC WILL NOT WORK! If you make comms BTC you will lose at least one player in me.

So tldr version 1 heart per saga should be way to go and comms BTA.

Adding them to the store? When TRing was introduced the store was the only place to get them. Then they were eventually added to the epic token turn in after epic content was introduced, probably to get players to play it before TRing. Then they were added to challenge turn ins, likely to sell more over priced challenge packs. About a year and a half ago, epics acquired N/H/E difficulties and they became automatic. I went from a handful of tokens to having a surplus of about 200 in that time.

While it is a problem of Turbines own making, I think most players have become spoiled by the ease at which getting free TR hearts has become based on the amount of backlash seen lately. One heart per heroic saga would be ridiculous, basically giving away several over the course of every normal TR. That would make even having them in the store a waste of time. While it might make many players happy, it's the sort of thing that would kill the game next budget review as games that don't make money have no purpose from the point of view of those who make that decision regardless of how good or popular they might be because of it.

From a business perspective its better to stick with one mechanic than it is to give people something for a long period of time then take it away. What Turbine has been doing lately rather than making higher quantities of new content, they choose to "fix" the older content and revamp systems that allowed people to get things they want to sell in the store too easily for their tastes. Allocating all these people hours to revamping old mechanisms, is a double whammy negatively for them, because they are both nerfing ease of acquisition of desired items in the process, and using people hours that could be used to make new content while doing so. Now we end up with a game where updates are two quests in size, and hearts are much harder to acquire in game. No endgame, and tougher to TR.

What will players do now when they get to 20? Either p2w, or stop playing altogether. We well knew it was a hamster wheel in the past but it was a free ride on that wheel. Now they are charging to get on the hamster wheel, by strategically placing poorly thought out quest content on the saga lists. People who liked to TR before who didnt buy the latest expansion or some other quest packs they didnt like will now either have to buy those packs, buy the expansion, or buy the hearts directly. Each direction they face is a money grab, with the last option being stop TRing - and not succumbing to the p2w.

On top of all that, they tried to ghostbane their way out of it with yet another revamp in loot drop. Instead of completing the new raid or fixing more bugs, they ghostbaned the loot tables.

i'm all for BtA commendations and a 30-40 quest grind for a heroic heart to match what we have now via generic questing, but one saga per heart is asking for too much.

there does have to be a balance. 100+ quests per heart is way out, 10 quests per heart is also way out.

the ideal balance should have people weighing up grind vs TP with the playerbase split on which they think is best. if the vast bulk of the playerbase all makes the same choice than there is no balance. get the balance right and the playerbase will be happy gamers who won't object to spending money when they can without feeling forced either way (because that generated bad feelings).
