They were a few things that made me make this build:
- Since the release of Purple Dragon Knights I tried to use the ability they have to use charisma for to hit and damage.
- I don´t like melee toons that are so much reliant on healers, so i like self healing and not to depend on a healer thay may not heal me because he doesn´t want to, doesn´t have spell points, is occupied doing other things or is dead.
- I've been playing the new favoured soul enhancement line (warpriest) that has an enhancement called "ameliorating strike" that heals every allied near you for 1d2 * heal skill point, and also applies the lesser restoration spell on them, without using spell points and without having to stop fighting to cast a "quickened healing spell".
- Along with the charisma used by the PDK for to hit and damage a nice amount of saves adding the 2 levels of paladin looks really nice.
So I ended up mixing these 4 ideas into this build:
- Fighter 14: Purple Dragon Knight that uses charisma for damage and to hit and tries to maximize the DPS through the kensei enhancements line, two weapon fighting with bastard swords and the Legendary Dreadnought ED. The PDK can have GH as a spell like ability, up to +3 to to hit and damage while fighting with 2 weapons and a boost to a few abilities like Charisma when using action points. To be able to use charisma for to hit and damage you need "Cormyrean Knight Training" enhancement Tier 1.
Forgot to mention the ability to start at lvl 15.
- Favoured Soul 4: to have the nice "healing hit" every 15 seconds that is healing me since level 15-16 for 60-90 hit each hit (each 15 seconds), without using spell points and without having to stop fighting to cast a "quickened healing spell". The warpriest enhancement line also adds 10 points of physical resistance rating, and "Inflame" action boost (+4 to AC, DMG and attack for 30 secs) that is not shared with the fighter action boosts.
- Paladin 2: Since the PDK maximizes the Charisma, with a level 2 pally i get "Divine Grace" for saves boosting as well as up to 3 "smites" or 3 "lay on hands", whatever you decide is better.
I've been playing this toon for a few weeks and now its level 20.
I've played a few tough quests with this toon like: "Spinner of shadows" on elite at level, and played really well, and obviously could finish it only with the right team.
As far as I've been playing:
- The DPS is decent for a fighter (he´s less that a Barb and more than a Staltwart)
- He saves almost "every spell casted on him". Its really nice to stay fighting below a dancing ball until the ball finishes.
- He usually finishes each combat fully healed, basically because he self-heals itself every 15 secs, so he just needs something to hit to be healed and in some cases wait a few secs to get the heal again.
- He's usually the last one to fall in a wipe, this varies according the groups.
- If you are dead you have no DPS, so it´s better to stay alive.
I'm posting here the ideas of how to build it along with the feats I decided to use. This is a sort of a guide, I don't want to write a full build, just the ideas.
But basically you need:
- str 13: to use bastard swords and have power attack.
- dex 17: to have improved two weapon fighting and greater two weapon fighting.
- con 14: minimum
- int 10: you will need to add points in: heal, umd and balance, secondarily in jump and intimidation.
- cha X: this is up to you depending on your build points, tomes, etc, but since this is the main ability i don´t recommend something below 16.
To be able to have a really nice healing with "ameliorating strike" you'll need a nice devotion item like: http://ddowiki.com/page/Shamanic_Fetish
I built mine this way:

The feats taken are these, depending on your strength you can take feats in another order, i have to wait to level 11 to have str 13 required for bastard swords and power attack.
