Default If The TR Values Were Placeholders Turbine Would Have Had A Response

As the title says, if the TR values were placeholders Turbine would have had a response right away. The only reason they didn't respond right when they got in this morning is because they were having meetings about what to say. The fact that a response could not be fabricated in 8 work hours makes me wonder.

Why? They need to find balance between a timely response and a thorough response. In addition, they likely need to figure out what to do about forum violations so this doesn't happen every time people are upset about something on Lam.

The 1,000 com requirement is non-sensical. It has to be a place-holder value or there are other ways to get coms we don't know about yet. They told us reincarnation isn't part of this release so it makes sense that they don't have everything ironed out yet.

Nonsense. Update 20 was completely focused on the new TR systems. They stated that two updates ago. There's only two quests in Update 20, so that's even further proof that this update wasn't focused on anything other than what they stated before: the new TR systems.

Which refers to the function of the mechanic, not the cost. Why put the costs out there, otherwise?

I think slarden was pointing out the LAM release not having TR ready yet, not the Update 20 wasn't about TR'ng.

I'm holding my outrage/relief until we get the word back from Turbine that Tolero said earlier today should be forthcoming. I think the rest of us would do well to do the same.

But I know my pitchfork and torch is ready just incase.

If you are talking about the current build on Lamannia, you are correct that Reincarnation isn't ready yet. But you said that this "release" which means that this Update isn't about TRing. That is completely false since the whole update is about the new TR systems.

I meant this Lam release. If I meant U20 I would have said "Update 20".

Anyhow, anything you or I think about the hearts is just speculation at this point. Only Turbine knows for sure and we likely will have more insight in less than 24 hours.

If the current TR values were planned placeholders, they wouldn't need more than 8 hours to figure out what to say. They would already know what the plan was and should be able to formulate a response in far less than 8 hours. Not having a response today says to me that these were the (at least initial) values that they intended so they don't have a ready answer for the outrage.

Perhaps, but it's easy to underestimate the process to communicate something to customers if you never worked in that type of corporate environment. This situation was complicated by the fact that the discussion was dragged to the general forum and was reported by at least 2 sites. Figuring out what to communicate is the easy part. Having it go through layers of management and scrutiny - not so easy or fast.

however, this is possibly escalated to the "Fire Brigade" as the firestorm alone won't be sated with "Just Placeholders". I wouldn't be surprised if the response that is getting put together is now being reviewed by the PR team and attorneys to make sure it says only what they want us to know but at the same time "calm" the masses.

I don't know - "let the pot boil for another day while we try to think of something that will turn down the flame" doesn't seem like a good strategy to me.

"There is a huge misunderstanding about the number of Sagas needed to earn a HoW. I am hoping we clear that up today."

yeah, it's Twitter and not here but it's a reply.
Sadly, it appears to me Producer Glin is saying something along the lines of... "Those are just placeholder values".

I could be wrong, but nothing in that Twitter from Producer Glin indicates anything to me other than that the new system is going live, with only potential changes in Commendations of Valor per Saga run, in U20.

Yea you're right. They are probably having meetings to figure out what to say.

Yup. This is basically a repeat of what happened with the ED XP wipe. Glin was more active with this twitter followers. He communicated that we didn't understand what they were trying to do, so they were just moving forward with their plan. Then it was a bit of a back off, but not completely, because players were still not smart enough to understand. Then after about two days of no commnication, except to his Twitter followers, Turbine said they were going back to the drawboard.

I see this as a redux of that situation. And like last time, they will lose some more players and additional players will stop spending money because the company is not listening to the players anymore.

And this is what businesses do, whether they are selling a mmo or bananas. However, businesses can also fail from a really bad mistake, and I think they are doing one here. What Turbine sells is entertainment, and the minute the game becomes not entertaining, people will wander off. This decision as it stands on lammie now jumps people from an average of 40 quests per heart (I have bad loot roll luck and roll low amounts of shards, but that is my average for example) to 530 doing gh 53 tiimes to get enough comms to have 900. That is not a small jump, that is crazy. And I don't think marketing understands what they are calling for really.

They seem to be behaving like a company that sells things, inventory, rather than entertainment. As if the true hearts would sell without the benefit of the game to back them up. In a climate where people are spending less on non necessary things and businesses are folding all over the place really fast.

    Turtle!!!

They said its a misunderstanding, true or not it probably had to be said lol ive never seen nothing like this before, forums rage, protests on wayfinder, even articles on other websites, 17 valor comms cant be real, noway can somebody think 53 runs of a 10 quest chain is acceptable to what we have now on live

Tokens of the Twelve are free - you automatically get them when you complete an Epic quest. Why are they making them part of an end reward so we have to choose between Comms and another reward? And why make it a reward for Sagas only? It doesn't seem logical to me to make the currency for TRing more difficult to get unless the strategy is to make them so difficult that some people will resort to buying them from the store. That's the only logical reason to do this. And I'm tired of them changing things in the game to try to wring more money out of it.
