Changes to TR heart purchases are not okay

While I know nothing about this other than what I've read here, I do NOT like the sound of this. I will withhold final judgment until I better understand the facts, but I am skeptical, to say the least.

My knee-jerk reaction is to panic. However, since I have literally nothing to do with any decisions Turbine may or may not make, it doesn't really do me any good to panic. Either I'll keep playing or I won't. Not solely based on this, but it will certainly factor into my decision making process.

One thing that could help here would be a way to change existing tokens into commendations. Say 1 token for 10 commendations that way you could still get the heart for 20 tokens. You may end up with a few leftovers but better that than stuck with tokens. Also, perhaps tokens could be added to end reward lists for any quest that would qualify as a bravery quest. Say 5 for a hard completion and 10 for elite. That way you could collect comms on the way up and a streak of 200 would be enough for you to be able to purchase. Just some quick thoughts poorly expressed with a phone.

I get that this is going ahead no matter what. However why not allow heroic hearts should be acquirable from heroic saga rewards too?

Doing this will cater toward your "chain TR'ers" much better and leave them feeling better about this change.

That assumes they bothered to take that into consideration, which they probably didn't.

I don't particularly enjoy TR'ing, only did it once and that was because of the free stones with MoTU, but I was looking forward to ER. Probably because the loss in power going from 28-20 doesn't feel as big as going from 20-1. Now I'm not as sure we'll have to see just how long it actually takes to earn these new commendation in the numbers they are talking about.

The key to this all will be HOW MANY commendations of valor we get when completing a saga.

Yes, I see. I guess all we can hope for is that we'll be given more ways to acquire CofV's, like Token turn ins, CofH turn ins, quest/raid drops, chain end rewards, DD rolls. Because if the fears expressed here turn out to be true, and CofV farming adds significant grind to the TR train, well, obviously not cool.

I look at it this way: this is now the attempt to take the premium players, and bend them over the furniture. Just like they did with VIPs and the “expansion pack” stuff. Because you may “own” the content, but now you’ve got a whole new set of hoops to jump through to TR your 20-some odd characters.

As a VIP, I can just sit on my free TP and get a new THoW in a couple of months, maybe.

Then again, you don’t have to go for completionist, and you don’t have to TR if you don’t want to spend the moolah. But stuff like this makes it pretty clear to me that you’re now getting the same treatment at VIP players – pony up more money if you want to have what you once had already.

Well, to be fair, 99% of forum posters see that result no matter what... It's the This New Thing syndrome.
