I think it would be cool to have the holiday events come with cosmetic costumes from redeeming the turn-ins. Hopefully just bound to account

I mean like cosmetic armour changes. Like you can look like a lich, mummy, happy cow, crazed illithid, santa's elves, jack frost, whatever.

THIS is where Turbine's head needs to be for new revenues! Put a cookie in the DDO Store that costs some reasonable number of Turbine Points. Each cookie a different costume option that lasts for x-number of minutes.

I'd 100% support this if the DDO Devs could come up with a mechanic akin to the TF2 Full Moon stipulation.
TF2 has Halloween themed items and outfits that only work during Halloween or during a full moon. So, the items have specific frames of time when they can be used.
As much as I like the idea, I think that Pumpkin Heads and (potentially) Santa Beards would be out of place in say.... July. I'm already gritting my teeth a bit over the new Mabar cos-items. But, if they could only be used during Mabar or a full moon... I say bring em on.
Heh, that sounds neat, having a phasing cosmetic! How would you feel about taking it a step further, and having an "All-Season" cosmetic item as well? It changes appearance based on current season; for example, when no seasonal "flag" is on, it has a set appearance. When Mabar is on, it is a pumpkin head. When Risia is on, it's a frosty halo with a snow trail. When the Traveler is in town, it's something else, etc.
Anything can be explained by drunken wizards.
"Hey! I got a piece of the +1 Butter Knife of Victory! Ah-oh, wait, wait. It's just a crummy, normal +1 dagger of ghostbane..."
People have been begging for more Cosmetic Armor choices for years. I really don't know why it's taking Turbine so long to fill this obvious gap in the DDOStore that people trying to give away their money for. It's completely asinine that Turbine ignores these pleas that will make them money, while trying to rake in money by wrecking the various working systems in the game.
Only if they are restricted to the festival time period. It's bad enough we will soon have pumpkinheads running around all year now.
