Launcher is acting weird

I don't know a ton about computers, but I went to open my launcher (as I normally do), signed in with my UN/PW, and got this message:

Failed to launch client
Failed to read authentication response [err: unexpected end of file][line:1][col:1]

I reset my computer and tried to open it again- got the same response. I'm about to Google the error message, but would appreciate a hand with this one.

Servers are down until noon for maintenance. That's why you're getting that.

Dammit! I should've taken a look at the update text on the launcher itself. Scrambled back to thread to delete OP so I wouldn't look like a moron, but it's too late!
