    Default Adventure Pack Demo Weekends

One thing that does hit me as a potential way to draw more people into buying packs is to have, say, a weekend a month where one of the packs is open for everyone, even those who don't have it. Perhaps limiting it to Casual/Solo and Normal difficulties only, and perhaps even a single run through it. If you already own the pack, you still have your normal access, and perhaps it would work to give something like a +1 to chest quality in those adventures.

Now, I have bought several adventure packs, but the reason I decided on them was largely because of the experience I had with them after finding a sealed box of the game in the bargain bin right after DDO went Free To Play. I'd gotten to mess around with a lot of different adventures I normally wouldn't have, and I kind of wish I'd had more time to explore and experience a few of the others that I didn't because I didn't have a good build and wasn't pushing for levels.

This could get some people to try the game more with the various packs that you might have a few open for the weekend (Ones for different level groupings to give everyone something to do, and perhaps limit it to a choice of one of the packs available). It would also have older players coming back to experience the content with friends who would be new to it.

And you would likely have the pack sell rather well once people try it. And if they don't, well, they still have the next months one to look forward to. Once you buy one pack, you tend to buy more of them, and other things.

Something similar that could work would be to temporarily open up the premium classes or races for a weekend, possibly limiting them to just Korthos and perhaps the Harbor, or level restricting them to a cap of 4 or 5 unless they buy the race/class, and the character may end up just sitting on someones screen after the weekend (Should drop to the lowest slot and not take one of the two free players get) but several people would probably buy them after trying them out.

And while the big named packs would draw in people to play (I know at least two people who considered DDO to try Deleras, and decided not to since that would end up costing more), the less used packs would get people to at least try them and up their sales.

Not to take away from your suggestion, but that's what I do with half the time I spend on the Lamannia server, when it's up. You get free TP on there every day, and can unlock everything there to try. It'd be nice if it was up more often, so more people could use it for that exact reason.

The big difference is that it is a different server, and with it not being up all the time means that few people are going to be as invested in a character there as one on a normal server they know will be up year round.

It also doesn't have as much of the "Play with friends" draw to it for older players to get them back to the pack or for the rest who want to run it with their guilds.

Your suggestion would be a poor move by Turbine. People would get all the named loot they need from the pack and lose any incentive to ever buy it.

yea i kinda dont see how it would work, for it to be a DEMO time it would need to restrict players in some way from exploiting it, so what, no exp, no loot, one quest per weekend? that would be pretty stinky EA like kind of move.......

Remove named loot for random loot for those who don't own it, or perhaps reduced chance of it dropping..

The basic thing is that it lets people see the packs

Actually, i was saying one pack for a weekend and it would work as 1 weekend a month with perhaps 2 or three available to give players of different levels something they could actually do. And I'm not entirely sure about how the xp or even really the chance of the loot would prevent people from later on buying it. The 1 quest thing was for 1 run through it rather than multiple ones.

The goal is to draw people to the areas and get them to try them, a lot of new players don't entirely understand what's in the adventure packs at the beginning, and aren't that sure about paying for more of them. Let them try a few out and there are enough that letting people have 1 run a year or so, even for those that have some idea for whatever reason, may not consider buying the packs until they actually run them again.

Changing how loot drops that way is likely to complicated and very likely to bug out, perhaps a better solution would be to allow people who have the packs the limited ability to invite so many people into a quest for a one shot trial at it, not exactly like the guest passes since those are on timer but I mean a one shot visit.
