if life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

if u buy the lesser amount of turbine points - 8$ - you become premium
then u have a lot of usefull advantages like 2 more character spaces and are able to post more than two itens on auction house
Work smarter, not harder. Use line-of-sight or terrain to block enemies from swarming you. Casters are almost always more dangerous than archers or melees and therefore should be killed or incapacitated first. If playing a melee, consider tactics moves like trip/sap/stun or using paralysing weapons.
I Cannith-craft (150 levels in all schools) for free on Thelanis if you provide all needed materials.
Getting Past Traps without Trap Skills | Musical Musings
Introduce yourself to Durk. He knows where Muck is hiding, and Muckbane is one of a newb's bestest friends.
(Several of my first choice suggestions had already been covered: Go Premium, Buy content over fluff, etc.)
edit: *glances down at Ivan's tip.*
Secondary tip: When a mob is pummeling you severely, DO NOT run away from the party. Run TOWARDS the big armored guy swinging the big sword/axe.

How to link item in chat window: hold down ctrl and right click on the item.
You can buy more than 1 pot or something else at a time from npc, hold down ctrl and double click on item you want to buy, that will give you a number to put in.
While you are on the floor you can block, that way you can reduce incoming dmg.
IF you want to get hit less, move in circle around the mob.
IP means in progress, BYOH bring your own heals, not hireling, if you want hireling ask, if you summon it without asking that is rude, BB means bravery bonus when you see it on lfm, when mentioned with artificer, fvs or cleric it is blade barrier, spell.
GTW means got the window, its a method used for farming quest xp, you grab window while someone waits inside then you tell them gtw so they can get out and when they do it will usually take you in automatically, this is used so you dont have to abandon and share quest each time you finish it, it is also used for quests you have to flag every time after you finish it, flagging means doing prerequisite quests to get the last quest.

Google has many answers to your questions.
hint: add "site:ddowiki.com" or "site:ddo.com" to your search query.
try to make a few friends to run static with. You'll learn a lot this way
never forget to buy a good stack of:
remove curse potions
remove blindess potions
anti-poison potions
'cause you never know...
Save or buy your tp to buy the first account storage and money bank slots as soon as possible. You will need it.
It will make it easier to transfer items and to save up plat for a fourth inventory bag later on.
Since new players get two slots(four if premium) make one your main character on all the servers and get them to 100 favor to get server tp bonus. Use these characters to unlock some of the stuff that is in the store to save tp.
Use the rest of the character slots to do 100 favor runs for 25tp each run.
When you get enough tp saved up buy them. Now that you got the account bank and plat bank you can save up for adventure packs and other account stuff.

Don't sell random green items to vendors - "disenchant" them in the cannith crafting area in House Kundarak.
When you break down an item, you will get 1/10 of the plat "base" value, which is about the same you get from vendoring an item (prior to haggle, I think).
Then, if you aren't interested in crafting, you can then sell the essences in the AH to make more money.
Thanks Everyone for contributing to DDOCast 307 - New Player Tips. Everyone had great, helpful tips for us to share!

1) 1 point of umd is useful, allow you to use shield/blur
2) crafting is really useful in heroic level, should start as soon as possible.
3) share bank is really a big deal, though you only need the first upgrade
4) health doesn't means everything, but without it everything is meaningless
5) tangleroot deathward clickie is your best friend, if you don't have the spell and don't have a hire can cast it on you.
6) summon monster is the best tool against beholder.. if you let them charge in first
7) know when to retreat, and when to stick together
8) don't expect hireling to have brain, especially the owlbear
9) a good guild really helps, if they have all the buff and resist.
1) Make it difficult. Play on the highest difficulty possible and you will be rewarded.
2) It's OK to die and reset+restart when playing solo.
3) Take note of the tips more experienced players give.
4) No matter what people say, it's YOU who decides how you play. Do whatever you want and HAVE FUN!
As a corollary to this: Grab every purple bag you see, and hit every collectible location (piles of wood, backpacks, etc) you find as well. Not only will you occasionally find some stuff that is worth a lot of money such as Eberron Dragonshard Fragments, but many of the collectibles can be exchanged for consumables that will help you out a lot.
One example: Amulets of the Lost Empire. These are very common and obtained mostly from bags dropped by ogres, giants, trolls, etc. You can turn 10 of them in for a Min level 1 (anyone can use it) potion of Greater Heroism (immune to fear, +4 to your attacks and skills) that will last for 10 minutes.
Visit the different collectors (looks like 3 blue dots on your map) to see what you can exchange collectibles for.
Listen to DDOCast - its a great source of updates, news and game discussion. If you don't have time to read all the stuff the downloading the podcast and listening to it while at the gym/going to work/other will help loads
Learn how to be a good troll so you can be entertained during the downtimes
If you are going to count xp/minute, then you aren't playing, you are working.
Have fun and stay out of the PvP pits.
