GTA Online just launched and my console gamer sources are successfully logging in 1/30 tries, then subsequently crashing trying to do anything.
ETA: And Rockstar's support fourm crashed according to Forbes.com

Luckily, story mode is unaffected by the GTAO problems.
Heck my pictures were still uploading to the social club just fine.
I did not try to log in to GTAO last night because I knew it was going to be a mess. They sold 800 million dollars worth of games in the first day. I'd say that maybe they need really robust servers to handle that volume of people, if even just a fraction of those people tried to get online.

You'd think that if they planned on this much traffic, they would build it properly to handle the load... Good thing they aren't selling health insurance online...

Nope DDO is the only game that has problems...
Insurance comment: yes because people are lining up around the block for progressive... Seriously next time a big huge block buster movie opens up go get a ticket within minutes on opening night... after you stand in line for two hours start complaining that all movie theaters should be able to process the demand instantly...
I'm not sure why people think physics doesn't apply to the electronic world...
