Default Build Request: Monk 9/Pal 11

I'm only doing this for a Pally past life or three, so I'm not going to build for epic levels. I've never run a monk or a paladin before. I solo exclusively, so self-sufficiency is a must. I think I'll go 1-9 monk then 10-20 paladin. This is a second life toon (first life is a barb), so I'll have 32 points for stats, how should I allocate them? (I used +4 tomes for all stats, so I've got a little leeway there.) What are the "must have" enhancements, proficiencies, feats and skills? Is Mon 9/Pal 11 a good split or should I throw something else in there?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you plan on using wraps ? Or do you have a weapon or two left over from your previous life you would like to use ?

If using wraps the 9 monk / 11 Pally will make a very good build.

Personally I would prefer something along the lines of 8 fighter / 3 monk / 9 Paladin. I like dwarves (hammers + HP + Tactics FTW). I would probably do 3 monk then 8 Fighter. By level 11 you could have GTWF and be centered with your chosen weapon. I would choose fists of light for the healing curse.
This build would give you Evasion , Decent AC ( always a plus in heroic content ), Some self healing ( fists of light , LoH ), Good Hitpoints, And some CC by way of Stun, Trip. Also your saves will be very good.

With 8 Fighter you get 5 Bonus feats and 3 monk gives you 2 Feats plus a path feat. So with your 7 General Feats you get a total of 15 to play with.

I recommend starting with 15 Dex to make getting the TWF feats quicker.

    16 STR
    15 Dex
    16 Con
    8 Int
12 Wis (A little WIs always good on a monk splash)
12 CHA (Pally Saves and Divine Might)

    feats

    1 .TWF
    1. Monk PA
    2. Monk Improved Sunder (Dodge ? )
    3. Weapon Focus
    3. Monk Fist of Light
    4. Fighter Cleave
    5. Fighter Stunning Blow
    6. Adept of Forms
    7. Fighter Weapon Specialization
    9. ITWF
    9. Fighter Improved Critical
    11. Fighter Greater weapon Focus ( Can be centered with non monk weapons here )
    12. GTWF
    15. Master of Forms (Earth stance 3 and 4th Pally level means Divine Might Here)
    18. Great Cleave

Running around in Earth Stance with x5 Crits(x4 nightforge +1 earth stance 3 ) on your hammers and stunning, tripping everything sounds like fun.
Between A stunning Hammer, a Spare Hand (Belt that adds combat mastery) , Dwarf, Kensai Tactics and Divine Might you should stun everything. You might not even have to use a stunning hammer to get the stuns to land reliably.

Use handwraps until you have your 8th Fighter level then swap into your chosen weapon.

If using Dwarf I would get 2x Nightforge Hammers. (x4 Crits 1.5W ML 8. extremely easy to obtain)

With Dwarf + Kensai it is pretty easy to get a stunning blow that will land reliably in heroic content.

Hmm ... Might have to TR one of my toons now to get a pally past life or two :P

IIRC, using handwraps w/Smite & Divine Sacrifice used to be bugged; offhand procs didn't work or something, I can't remember exactly. Anyway, has that been fixed in U19?

Anyway, what about rgr 6 / monk 6 / pal 8? Effectively a 6/6/6 split, presuming you park at 18 while you grind XP like a good little TRer. You lose Imp Evasion, but rgr gets you a bunch of feats, Ram's Might, etc. Unarmed + Manyshot + 10K Stars is a pretty potent combo; and it works with any race, now that you can take a fair amount of AA enhs without giving up Tempest.
