shadar kai? There are many things that come from the Plane of Endless Night (shadows, vampires, succubi, yugoloths, kastighur, barghests, shadow mastiffs, nightshades, bodaks, heck, you could even throw forgewraiths and painspeakers in there), but the Shadar Kai do not. Even if they existed in Eberron, they would come from the Shadow Plane, not Mabar. I really hope that's not WAI, because that would be a little lazy....

I don't have a probelm with SHADAR-Kai in Mabar...they kinda have that goth feel to them, so they might be right at home in a cemetary. But really, we need undead...it just plain fits. Cemetary=Undead=Win!!!!

Yeah, let's put Skrillex in Mabar, he fits too.

The draught of midnight from the store use to give motes for every kill and now that the monsters in there are not undead you will not get motes. So they need to update "draught of midnight" to include the new monsters or make all monsters undead like it use to be.

casters mass kill period rendering everything dead regardless of thier state when they started

melee toons do just fine against the undead, get the appropiate weapons

you want to kill enmasse roll a up a caster ....want to administer a personal beat down enter the fray with a melee...this true for all content

either way youll do just fine in the event

the only living things in mabar should be us....the players

Draughts of Midnight have been updated to include the Shadar-kai and Succubi found in Delera's Graveyard during the event, and that change will go Live with the rest of the Mabar updates.

So having non-undeads in an undead themed event is WAI?

    Wow. Just wow.

I guess part of it is interpretation. I always thought of Mabar as a Halloween themed event, not a specifically undead event. And like someone else stated, the shadar-kai are gothic and creepy looking, and they fit my idea of the theme. But I suppose someone will call me selfish for having a different interpretation of a live event from them. *Shrugs*

I'd also be okay with goblins, witches, bats, and other things in there. The more things the better. It would be nice if they could code anything in the graveyard instances while it's on work with the drafts to make everyone happy, and only undead outside. I sorta wish it were practical that they could do festival specific new monsters instead of recycled undead we've been killing over and over everywhere else.

Eberron has a Shadowfell, they call it Dolurrh. Yes, this is canon:

Yes, there are Shadar-kai who live there. Some of them also live in Mabar (Eberron as a setting has always leaned towards "critters live wherever it would make sense for them to live" rather than "critters only come from ONE PLACE and ONE PLACE ONLY!").

As for the folks getting huffy about Shadar-kai in their Mabar event, look at it this way:

    1) Mabar is DDO's Halloween festival. Halloween is about a lot more than just undead. The fact that it's been undead-only up until this point was ignoring plenty of other Halloween-themed stuff that they could have been including.

So it's fine from a thematic perspective.

    2) As mentioned above, Shadar-kai DO exist in the Mabar.

So it's fine from an in-game perspective.

    3) As plenty of other folks have pointed out, Mabar has been pretty much a Cleric kill-fest up until now. God help you if you wanted to play, say, a rogue. Now, everybody has something they can kill.

So it's fine from a game balance perspective.

    4) Then again, it is a change. And we all know change is bad and a sure sign the devs have lost touch with what made this game fun way back in the primordial past.

So it's not fine from a forumite perspective.

Shadar-Kai DO NOT BELONG in an Eberron themed Event!

It happens on Halloween but it's always been an UNDEAD THEMED EVENT. The fact that it is attended in Delera's Graveyard should be a HUGE hint. 3 years of undeads should be another huge hint. The fact that we have an item that appears just for this event to work ONLY WITH UNDEADS should make it pretty clear.

God help YOU if you have no idea how to play a rogue when there are a few undeads. The rest of us can kill them pretty fast and reliably however.

You really think that we whine because this "change" is bad? Or because we can't kill Shadar-kais? Or because Clerics are OP in this event (btw, what?). We whine because it's a stupid change. It's like putting Beholders a pirate cap and add them to Crystal cove.

EDIT: What I hate more is the fact that Steelstar bothered to reply to a Store item question and didn't even bothered to give us a reply if this was WAI or not.

Yeah, in an indirect way. If there was no such question, he wouldn't even bothered to come here and tell us probably. I don't need you to tell me that that answer confirms it's WAI, I'd like Developers to step up and be direct with us.

Ooh, I totally forgot werewolves when I was trying to think of other mobs I'd like to see in the Halloween event! That was stupid of me, especially since you and I were just talking about Murder by Moonlight the other night! (For other people, I know it's murder by night, but I've been getting it wrong so long my friends just adapted and it's a running joke now).

Honestly, I think limiting it to just undead is a boring festival. I don't understand why people are so attached to the 'undead theme' instead of a creepy, variety filled Halloween theme that to me comes across as way less boring. And they indicated the draughts will work, so they won't lose the motes. *Shrugs*

Really...you guys are complaining that they added shadar-kai and succubi to the halloween event....on no how dare they add variety to the event.

I'd love it if they added more...the Taken would work perfect imo.

Shadar-kais are not creepy either anyway. They are just boring. If they HAVE TO put new mobs in here, I'd like much more werewolves, rats, hags, takens.

How are you explaining faerunians showing up on an ebberonian planar coterminous event?
