Unarmed Fight Vs. Tempest Tree.

Hi guys.

I'm preparing my main toon to next life - Druid. I want It to be monk build with Stunning fist, 10k Stars and good survivability.
Build will be 8drd/6mnk/6rgr or ftr. I checked all enh, feats etc. and I have established a general outline for this build, but there is one thing that I'm not sure.

Does Ranger Tempest tree abilities works with unarmed fight?

Should I go 6rgr or maybe its better to go 6ftr? (Kensei works with unarmed - tested)

PS. The build is mostly for melee fight. 10k stars and ranged abilities are just for situational fights. Also this build is only for heroic quests, after I reach lv.20 I TR again.
