Default Server side hang (lag) and no min level rings

Good day everyone! This post is to inform the devs that again focus has been drawn from the elephant in the room. Server side lag is still the most important issue that has not been solved in the game. The glaringly obvious that impacts game play the most is not addressed, but focus on adding new content is. I know an excuse of why this hasn't been addressed will be forthcoming and that this post will not see the light of day.

Also min level on gear has been "fixed". Too bad I cannot retroactively fix my subscription and get my VIP money back. Have fun playing this game. I have had my fill of gross negligence, mismanagement, and bad form in MMO upkeep.

    Have a nice day everyone.

    Smile dev's responce please

i'm sory to hear about your anger, i agree with some of it.

Dear dev's, are you gal's& guys aware of the huge lag spikes going round?
My lowbie tank is currently build/geared well enough to take a 2-4 min lag spike to the face, but it gets tiresome having to hear my party members make excuses whille i bring their stones to the next shrine.

A statement on this would be very nice (i have checked the dev tracker, it's not there or it's not working again).

as for the rings, yes it's childish to change it but we've done so many lives so far without them, you'll adapt.
As for your subscription: feel free to go F2P, best thing i did in the game, take a break and come visit us in 6 months, make sure you bring the popcorn.

Also: Have a genuin nice and relaxing day, spend some time below that weird golden disk everybody seems to be complaing about but noone seems to be willing to fix.

As far as server lag yes i have seen 1 or 2 major lag spikes in the past 2 weeks but nothing major. There has been a bit of client shuttering during this time i do not get an fps drop. Many complains are client side lag due to low end hardware you should hit ctrl+f and keep and eye on your frame rate if at any point you see your frame rate drop below 60 you are experiencing client side lag. Server lag can been observed thru the network monitor you will see your latency spike or packet loss both could have several meanings. Network latency or loss could be attributed to a poor connection on your end or some where in your ISP. After you rule out any possibility of instability on your end of by that of your ISP then you can call server lag. Yes the min level item change sucks but i don't think there going to go back on it. The funny thing is i have crafted suitable replacements nearly as good at low level.

The first thing we need to get to the bottom of is why this massive lag only effects some people while never effecting others.

The system requirements to effectively play DDO are incredibly high where talking about windows index values in excess of 7. They may say a 4.0 is enough but this assumes you play at the lowest of the low settings. My gaming rig score's a 7.3 across the board and i still have difficulty running on the highest settings.

This is not a system requirement issue. As someone playing on a bleeding edge gaming machine, I'm telling you it's not a system requirements issue. It hits individual quest instances, usually when many mobs are pulled or have spawned simultaneously. In a lot of old content where the spawn sizes are reasonably small, you won't see the lag spikes. In some of the newer content, particularly Friends in Low Places and Through a Mirror Darkly, you won't complete the instance without at least one full-wipe caused by the atrocious lag.

Please please please investigate this. I'm tired of groups falling apart following a crippling lag spike.

Having a lot of mobs spawn simultaneously is a notorious cause of lag. Like you mentioned, in much of the older content, this isn't an issue because mob spawns are kept to a reasonable level. The devs should be fully aware of this as a cause of lag, but at the same time, they create new content in which 10 - 25 mobs all spawn in a matter of seconds. This not only causes lag, but at the same time causes dungeon alert. So you're moving slow already due to dungeon alert and staggering along due to lag, both caused by the same situation. Spawning far too many mobs all at once.

I'm specifically looking at What Goes Up when I mention this as I simply couldn't play it on epic elite without lagging out. Even solo on heroic elite, I went from no alert to red alert off of the first spawn of orcs on top of the glacier. I'm no expert, but I'd say a real easy fix to the lag issue at least in this situation is to just plain spawn fewer mobs. Make them tougher to compensate, but reduce the number of them. This should not be news to any dev at all. The "too many mobs" dungeon alert situation has been around since at least the cannith pack and possibly earlier. Spawning too many mobs, and causing both dungeon alert and lag is very poor design and should never make it past the planning stage, let alone make it to live servers.

    Default 7.9

7.9 is my lowest number on my index.
i'm very sure this lag was not on my side of things.
if i need more then my (6core)i7/32gigs of DDR3/2X Radeon HD7970, a private ssd for ddo, etc to play DDO, something is clearly wrong in its progamming.

(yes i do photoshopping/video edditing/play latest games besides DDO on this pc, not at the same time ofc) esp if i can run those other recent games at the highest setting without problems.

the 2-4 min lag spickes occured (in my case) at the catacombs and STK, i assume it's considered "old" enough? we sticked together, there was no dungeon alert before, durin and after the lag spikes.
