    Default Drow Darkfire

What type of damage does the Drow Darkfire ability do? And can it benefit from metamagics like empower and maximize?

    From the wiki:

Darkfire: Cooldown: 6 seconds. Metamagic: Quicken. Spell Resistance: No

Spell-like Ability: Fires a bolt of darkness that deals 1d12 damage per character level, Reflex DC (10 + Half Character Level + Charisma Modifier) Half Damage. At levels 11 and 21 an additional bolt is fired. Effects that grant Action Boost uses give you additional uses per rest of this ability.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Thanks for posting that, but this doesn't answer my question. It only says how much damage it deals, not what type of damage it is.

I used it a bit on my lvl 20 drow sorc, before deciding that it wasn't worth the ap cost.

IIRC it dealt untyped damage (not sure about that, it may have been physical or negative energy), and it's not affected by metamagics (except quicken I guess, but I didn't have that on my sorc). I also had 6 uses per rest despite having no action boosts.
The problem with it is that's it's evadeable, and while the DC is decent, it still won't work in really tough content or against mobs that I already have trouble damaging with spells.

The only characters for whom it might be worth the cost are cha-focused paladins or bards who could use a ranged option.
