I think they should let you use an esos at range. Give it returning and everything so that whenever you are still running up to the mob, you can still be hitting it. But only on the ESoS, putting it on anything else would just be silly.

No, I have no idea where you are going. You made a series of assertions about the rules of Epic levels in pen & paper D&D that are factually wrong. Now you're somehow trying to justify the false claims about pen & paper by talking about the types of bonuses we get in DDO? Where are you going? I never said anything about the type of bonus, but you claimed that those clearly spelled-out bonuses, of whatever type, didn't exist at all.
Do you need to see your own words again? OK, here:
That is still false.
And so is that. Though you sort of half-way admit it while still pretending otherwise:
In plenty of cases, for many builds, an additional non-Epic feat is a good choice.
LOL. You must not like feats very much.

If developers want to promote players to choose 8 Fighter for Greater Weapon Focus, then it needs to provide something worthwhile instead of +1 to-hit which they don't need/want. If Greater Weapon Focus was changed to "doesn't automatically miss when a 1 is rolled", that would incentivize players to purchase that feat. It's also thematically appropriate for only Fighters to gain that ability.
